Default With the zone read in vogue why isn't Vince playing?

Just curious. He was awesome in college, and no I'm not a UT fan.

My bet is he will be back in the game next season.

Pat White from WVU is talking about the same thing.

He was really good, .. but not a great passer, and he is small for the pro game. IMO

Because Vince Young is dumber than a bag of hammers. Wilson, RG3, Kaepernick aren't stupid.

Young has never ran the read option, and considering his poor in-game decisions, I doubt he can make good post-snap decisions.

probably because people should start listening to other people and realize it takes more to being a NFL qb than what others just assume. VY has more problems than just a "this or that".

Are you sure about that? I agree about his decision making and also his passing accuracy is not all that great.

The big thing for me is that over time Wilson, Griffin and Kaepernick will probably run less and less read option. The more experience they get, the bigger the playbook will get. They won't be limited to just the read option. They are smart enough to do more and do it well.

The gap in intelligence between Wilson, Rg3 and Vince young is alot bigger than the gap in Strahan's teeth... Vince doesnt have it.between the ears

I think Vince could be a backup somewhere.

However, he's not nearly what those three guys as far as passing skills go. They are all much smarter and are better passers. Ideal for the zone-read.
But I wouldn't rule out VY getting another chance to at least make someone's roster.

Oh I agree, he is an awful passer. But he did win in the NFL. My point of this thread was I won't be surprised if some come calling. Outside of RG3 he is a way better runner then the other two.

I thought I heard he struggled because they ran a system where he only had to make one or two reads. If both reads weren't available, then he takes off.

It's like calling a play in Madden knowing who you will throw the ball before the play is ran.

Because this offense is more than just about a mobile QB. There have been plenty of running QBs who have failed over the last 10 years. The reason it's different now is because the new era of mobile QBs can throw the ball and make good reads.

He can't throw so it would basically be the wildcat.

He seemed to throw just fine a couple of years ago against our defense.

I don't recall him running it at Texas or Tennessee. Regardless, seeing him behind center for the Redskins or Seahawks would be similar to how bad Joe Webb looked running it for the Vikings.

He ran the read-option quite often at UT.
