Default Tyrann Mathieu

I truly believe he is going through a transformation. He is building a PR campaign that will land him in the middle of the draft. Second chances happen all the time. Listen to his words. I think he is referring to fighting his ego. "A mind thing" Tough to say if he will still be as much of a play maker but he will get a chance. Also weird how he sounds a lot like Ray Lewis.

Possible Free Agents

Offensive Line
OT Eric Winston Age 29
OG Brandon Moore Age 32

Defensive Line
Thought we would get someone on the defensive line but in Marinelli we trust till further notice

GO COWBOYS!

I can understand wanting the RKG in rounds 1 thru 4. But after the 4th round I think its ridiculous to have talented players completely off someones draft board. Didn't the Patriots draft Dennard in the 7th round.

I would do it late in the draft. Worst case is you blow a 6th rounder. Best case is you get what LSU got from him... and that was a LOT.

I don't think the team will though because they're shying away from these kinds of characters, and because his size is so small and they like length in their DB's.

I generally agree with going for the right kind of character, too... but in this case, the upside is so high verses the risk (late round pick), that I think it is worth a shot.

Plus, I think the defense needs a little attitude, and that the Honey Badger brings by the truckload.

UDFA only, in my book.
When asked whether Jason Garrett is the right head coach for this team: "I don't think there is anyone else that could. I think he is an unbelievable coach. We've responded to him and he has made us better football players, better people. If you watch us I think we play with a certain relentless spirit." --Sean Lee

Yeah, just like they did Dennard this past draft. He turned out to be very good for them too.

Mathieu was all over the field when he played. He was the engine of that defense and was always in the right place at the right time. Pure football player who always, always caused bad things for the offense.

I'm not advocating taking the guy early... I'm just saying a late round flyer on him would be smart if he is sitting there in the 6th or so.

Perhaps Les Miles and Mo Claiborne can give a little inside info on him and convince Dallas to take a chance when they normally wouldn't.

Plus they traded for Talib from Tampa Bay. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Dallas drafted Brent even though he got in trouble in school and we see how that worked out.

Football players will always get in trouble, some with a past history, some not. Teams can't expect players to never get in trouble, if that was the case there would be no prisons.

I would take a change on the Badger in the 5th or later.

He is not as good as some people think. Take away his off the field issues and he would be a late round pick in my opinion. Throw in the off field stuff and I wouldn't touch him at all.

Dallas is not a good team for character issue players. The spotlight is too bright. The media/fans exacerbate any character problems that arise and sometimes "invent" issues for players with this type of background (see Bryant, Dez and Pants, baggy).

Tyrann Mathieu's other issue is measureables. He is about 5-9, 178 and is not expected to run an overly fast forty (i.e. over 4.5).

So they only have prisons because football players get in trouble?

No. I meant they are no different than regular people who get in trouble all the time.

Every NFL team has had players get in trouble, that will never change.

Was Irvin a Garrett RKG?

I have a really hard time seeing les go to bat for mathieu for any nfl teams. I am sure he is livid about the situation.

Also the last college game he played, he was exposed imo. Alabama had no problem throwing right at him.

I know there are so many players that have won Heisman trophies and been busts in the NFL, but how can anybody say Mathieu isn't good at what he does if he was a Heisman finalist?
