ESPND: Garrett will decide who calls Cowboys' plays
Jerry Jones said that any decisions regarding the Dallas Cowboys' offensive play-calling system will be made by coach Jason Garrett -- not the owner himself.
At last week's Senior Bowl workouts, Jones strongly hinted that Garrett would not call the offensive plays going forward and that the duties likely would be given to new offensive coordinator/offensive line coach Bill Callahan.
But in an interview posted Thursday on the team's website, Jones again hinted that there would be a new play-caller, but stopped short of announcing it.
"Jason is putting together, as he should be, a staff and a philosophy on every phase of the team & (relative to helping) us win a football game, now and in the future," Jones said during the interview. "Now being '13 & I'm excited. We got a good man in Jason Garrett putting that together for us."
Jones acknowledged being defensive about the perception of his head coach's power and expressed his confidence in Garrett's decision-making process.
"I'm on the defensive, I guess I am, sitting here defensively about (the perception)," Jones said. "But it is just not, in any way, the way that it is.

We'll settle this with a good dust up.

It is not a load of crap, nor is it gibberish, I posted a week or two ago that it was Jerry wanting Jason to call the plays as the HC. The media once again sucked all you people into believing Garrett was fighting to hold on to the play calling duties, when it was the opposite.
I even went explained how Garrett wanted to hire Paul Chryst the Pitt Panther HC to be his OC, UT even even tried to hire Paul Chryst as well before the settled on Brian Harson or Harsen.
Chryst turned down both offers using his family as the reason, but then later took the Pitt HC job.
It is funny how people would rather believe some made up crap by media people than to believe the truth.
Now I will agree that people will lie, Pete Rose, Lance Armstrong, the ex UT pitcher from Houston, (I'm not a baseball fan, so I cannot remember his name, oh and Barry Bonds) so yes people will lie.
But Jerry is not a liar when he says that it was his decision to have Garrett calling the plays.

So...you guys aren't buying it?
We haven't even heard from Garrett on the topic. And we don't even know what the decision is going to end up being. We may end being surprised.
When asked whether Jason Garrett is the right head coach for this team: "I don't think there is anyone else that could. I think he is an unbelievable coach. We've responded to him and he has made us better football players, better people. If you watch us I think we play with a certain relentless spirit." --Sean Lee

Actually, no - I am buying it...
But, the man cannot even articulate a cogent sentence...
Makes one wonder what it takes to become a billionaire...
Regarding Garrett - I actually do think Garrett has a vision and a philosophy that Jones is helping him execute through system, coaching and player acquisition...

Ah! Lol, well, yes. He isn't exactly eloquent, huh? Just one of those minds that knows how to focus on what's important. Diction and the rules of language are barely among the important things as long as he can get most of his meaning across and rich enough that others will make the effort to figure out what he's trying to say.

There you go, you hit the nail on the head. I can listen to Jerry speak all day long, he is a very intelligent guy.
People have this idea of how a billionaire is suppose to talk.

I'm a little surprised that if it is going to be Callahan, that it hasn't been announced yet. It does make me wonder if they're waiting until after the Super Bowl for a reason. A week or so ago, someone here speculated on Geep Chryst, Paul's brother and the 49'ers QB coach, as a possibility.
The awkward thing with that is that Callahan has been publicly dangled as the possible playcaller by Jerry. I don't know how that might sit with Callahan if they end up going with someone else like Chryst after floating Callahan's name out there.
Who knows, maybe it's Callahan and they're just ironing out contract revisions and responsibilities.
