Either that or there is no truth to this rumor.

Parnell is better than Free, IMO; however, they must have a 3rd guy.

Basing on history, my guess is that they plan to have Parnell start. They also picked up that guy Darrion Weems last year also they will pick up a low priced vet and maybe a 4-6 rounder to compete for the spot.

They did that with Gurode and regretted it. I don't think that they are penciling in Parnell. If they are, then we are in a lot more trouble then any of us thought and that's saying a lot.

I'm glad to see people are starting to realize OT is a problem.
Did you know there are only 5000 Snow Leopards in the wild now and they are confined to Central Asia? However, the effective global population (those likely to reproduce) is less than half that number.

Gurode was a probowl player, not a scrub like Free.
Big difference.

We wont regret letting Free go unless he gets on some HGH.
He had to be on something to go from what he was to just completely getting manhandled.
I'd like us to get the kid from Oklahoma.
He stood out to me all year and I didn't even know he was thought of as I high prospect. That guy has major upside.

Exactly, the last time I saw a player go downhill that fast was when Merriman was juicing and then he got busted and had to get clean. When he came back, he was just a totally different guy, lost his speed, quickness, everything.
That is why I think Free might have been juicing, I cant think of any other reason of how a player drops that far that fast to the point of just getting physically dominated every game.

I understand the sentiment but whenever any of us calls any pro athlete a scrub, say he sucks etc, I can't help but remember that no matter how long any of us live, there will always be something between us and a pro athlete that will never change, they did it and made it, we didn't.

All well and good but what difference does that make if your replacing a player with somebody who turns out to be a player that can't get the job done? The issue here is not a comparison of Gurode and Free. The issue here is that if, as you say, we are thinking about replacing a starter with an unproven player, we have done that before and it failed miserably. That's a problem.

I think that if the plan is something other then penciling in Parnell as the starter and counting on that for the entire season, then I would agree. We probably won't regret this move. My point was more along the lines of counting on Parnell as opposed to developing a plan. We absolutely made a mistake when we tried that with Gurode. That's all I was trying to say.

That was the whole point in getting Parnell playing time last season. He isn't unproven anymore.

No, I'm afraid he is. In the NFL, 1 start in 4 seasons is unproven. Playing time is not the same as being able to be a starter in the NFL.

Assuming we're cutting Free, I'd use those cap savings and look to bring in a vet to compete against Parnell. We need the depth in any case.
And in the Draft I would look to take an OC/OG fairly high.
I think that alone would go a long way to improving our OL (including depth). And I think it's doable.
