Tony Romo is playing some pretty incredible golf this week at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am

If you've ever played a pro-am, you know there are a few keys to success; make some putts, help your partner out, and get as many shots as possible. The latter isn't something Tony Romo can currently lean on at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am, but no worries, because the Cowboys quarterback is still in contention with his partner after two days thanks to some steller play and domination with his driver.

Romo and partner Jordan Speith are in the top-10 after the first two rounds thanks in large part to Romo, who has really helped out his PGA Tour partner with his play at both Spyglass Hill and Monterey Peninsula Country Club. On Thursday, Romo drove the par-4 5th hole at MPCC but failed to convert the eagle putt (he settled for a birdie) but did make eagle on the par-5 6th hole after three fantastic golf shots.

For the interested, the tourney is going to be on CBS at 2p CDT.

Quote:
PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. — Tony Romo was on the edge of the green on the 15th hole at Spyglass Hill on Friday, his ball about 30 feet from the cup. Time for some advice from his grizzled professional partner, Jordan Spieth.

“Alright, man, chip it in,” Spieth said.

“I guess I’ll go ahead and try,” Romo answered.

Sometimes coaching is that easy. Romo chipped the ball in for a 2, one of five birdies on the back nine. Add in Spieth’s 2-under 70 and the two are 15 under in the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am, tied for fourth, just three shots behind leaders Jason Day and 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh.

They're interviewing Romo now, but it's about the golf stuff for now..

Edit: Aww, it was nothing. They just analyzed his swing.

Why do we have to bring Romo's football play into this? Why can't we just say "Romo is a very good golfer, period?"

The fact that Romo has played poorly in some football games does not in any way diminish his performance as a golfer. The fact that he has played well in golf does not in any way enhance his performance as a football player.

Can't we just keep the two things separate?

Wow. Not bad.

Here are the scores.
Looks like a log jam at the top

Love to see them get a top 5 finish.

I hope he wins. It'd be nice to get some good news around here for once. Jordan Spieth being a fellow Dallasite and Longhorn is icing on the cake.

i better setup the dvr now for first take on monday b/c either way this goes, they will discuss it. either "romo wll use this victory to propel him into next season" or "this is just another example of romo failing down the stretch."

I wonder out of 100 entries (or however many it was) what place Speith/Romo would have to come in to be considered a great job done. Top 10%? 5%?

Some answers would be telling....especially when it's a pro Am event where the amatuers are all worse than any of the pros.

Pretty cool anyway.

Good for him. It was a tough way to end the NFL season like he did and he's been getting abused by fans and columnists. Its good to see atleast for a minute people are talking about something other than him "choking". But even then that won't last long.
