Who is bringing the Cowboys down?
Whether it's because of injury, overrated talent, or poor decision-making, the Cowboys starters are not as good as they're made out to be. Which players do you think are most responsible for the misrepresentation of "talent" on the Cowboys?

I don't think it's really a "misrepresentation of talent" so to speak. The Cowboys as a team are not as good as they could be as a result of having a poor o-line. The guys that are recognized as being the "talent of the roster" are certainly talented and it would be hard to argue otherwise (Dez, Romo, Witten, Claiborne, Carter, Lee, Ware, Hatcher, Carr).
EDIT* I'd also like to add there's a general lack of depth that's keeping the team from getting over the hump (which I don't think can be classified as "overrated talent"). One more good offseason and I think this discussion is non-existant.

Hoping you're right. My thoughts were that players like Miles Austin and Jay Ratliff, and even Orlando Scandrick are seen (currently) as good players to people and media outside of the Cowboys fan base.

When I think of the talented players on this team who give me hope, none of the three you mentioned are on that list. Those three won't be the reason we contend next year, and they won't be the reason if we don't contend.

I think Garrett finally has them on the right track because he's clearing out the dead weight players and the drafts are better.
Interestingly, Braudus has said it can take 3-5 years to overcome a single bad draft. So think about the bad drafts from the Wade Phillips era. What players did those yield? And what about Parcells? Outside of Ware and Witten what impact players have we drafted? Good thing we lucked into Miles Austin and Tony Romo in free agency.
Garret's drafts have been FAR BETTER, and I look toward to a other good draft.

I think when you talk to other people that really play the quarterback position, there's a few guys that really have incredible greatness in them, and Tony is one of them. I think the issue here is he needs more help from his teammates. I think they are not nearly as talented as people say they are, from 1 to 53. I'm talking about the total roster.”

Yeah. 1 playoff win in 17 years is definitely "in the right direction". The answer is Jerry. He's the only constant in that equation.

The offensive line is bringing down the Cowboys... Gotta get some push up front.

A lack of talent and depth.

The dline does it's job also of bringing the team down. But, for some reason or the other, Dallas does not seem to want to pay the fat guys.

It's Jerry. He needs to either hand the team over to Stephen or bring in a real GM.

Doug Free was the biggest detriment to this team last year.
The next biggest detriment is not a player, but the lack of a player at Safety. You might get by with either Church or Sensabaugh if one of them was paired with an above average NFL Safety; however, having the 2 of them together is not ideal and having just Sensabaugh with some street Free Agents from the scrap heap is even worse.
Third would be Center. Cook cannot run block. Costa cannot stay healthy. Kowalski and Bernadeau are unproven at the position.
Forth, is OG. Similar to Safety, you might get by with either Livings or Bernadeau playing OG, but having both together is not ideal.
You don’t know what you don’t know.
