Default Carry-On Bag Question

Hey guys,

I haven't flown in about 5 years. Am taking a trip to Detroit in May for the weekend. Don't plan on bringing anything that heavy or big. Would a gym bag work to be able to bring it as a carry on? Just curious from those of you that fly. Trying to avoid paying the extra 50 bucks to check a bag if possible.

I don't see why not unless it's a huge gym bag. I've travel frequently and I've seen some larger size carry ons , much larger than normal sized gym bags.

Bone stock, right down to tires.

I use my gym bag all the time and it works quite well as a carry-on. If I'm packing light it can even fit under the seat in front of me in a pinch.

Just don't put any liquids in it and you should be fine.

If you need shaving cream, shampoo or other liquid type things...just buy them when you get to your destination.

Most airlines (except Spirit) allow a carry-on and personal item. The carry-on generally goes in the overhead, and is roughly 22'' by 9'' (45 total) and weighing no more than 40ish lbs (that's super heavy for a carry-on if you get that weight), and the personal item can be a small backpack or laptop bag or something that will fit underneath the seat in front of you. Keep in mind if you get a first row seat, that you may have to put everything up top.

As for Spirit, try to wear as much of the things as possible. They apparently charge for carry-on by weight, so be careful. I have never and will never fly Spirit for this reason
WANTED. NEEDED. DESTINED.

Go farther, Go further, Go harder. Is that not why we came? And if not, then why bother?
