A Chicago woman has been charged with aggravated domestic battery after police say she bit off a portion of her boyfriend's tongue after the two had a fight, MyFoxChicago.com reported.

"The whole thing makes me kind of sad," the victim said, asking not to be identified. "In one day I lost half a tongue and my girlfriend."

Elaine Cook, 51, and her beau reportedly went out for Valentine’s Day last Friday. The evening ended with some kind of argument and the boyfriend did not want to leave on bad terms.

So he leaned in for a kiss to try to smooth things over.

"Yeah, I've done it before," the man says of the kiss-and-makeup technique. "We have arguments, and I come in and grab her, 'stop this,' try to kiss her. It's worked before and I thought it would work now."

But this time, Cook allegedly clamped down and severed a large portion of his tongue and tossed the tongue on a cabinet, the report said. The man packed the tongue in a bag of ice and was taken by ambulance to the hospital

If the roles were reversed, the guy would go to prison for this. She'll get a slap on the hand.

Reminds me of a co-worker (army) she likes to run her freakin' mouth and talk smack cuz she knows she's protected. Can't tell her anything cuz she'll go make an EO complaint and if she were dumb enough to take a punch (and got punched back) the 2nd puncher would get demoted.

I keep telling her... you wanna act like a man, I'll treat you like a man. I've never hit a woman, but if she puts hands on me she's not longer a woman.

He gave her a defense. I'm surprised they even arrested her. He made an unwanted advancement.

I doubt that is much of a defence and your response has to be proportional to the threat. Biting off his tongue in response is not proportional in the circumstance.

Yeah, but the woman usually gets away with quite a lot in domestic situations.

A buddy of mine with a hot temper had a gal he worked with constantly talking smack and saying she was gonna kick his ace if he didn't do this or that. He bit his tongue for as long as he could stand and then one day after threatening him yet again, he stood up and got in her face yelling:

"YOU THINK YOU CAN KICK MY ACE, THEN LETS GO OUTSIDE AND FIND OUT RIGHT NOW!!!"

Needless to say, she didn't take him up on his offer and he never heard a peep out of her again.
