What he said was above board; we have two guys that they hope can contribute or even start that are hurt and the other guy could be a cap casualty, so at a minimum you have to bring in someone, whether it be sometime in first 3 rounds or so in the draft or via FA.
However, if we don't sign someone in FA and we get to pick 18 in round 1 and our top choices on Oline and Dline are gone..and Vacarro is sitting there...it could happen.
I think this is a great year to find safety help in round 2-4 though.

That's right. They may have a guy projected for the 2nd or later as their top safety pick.
Did you know there are only 5000 Snow Leopards in the wild now and they are confined to Central Asia? However, the effective global population (those likely to reproduce) is less than half that number.

We put players in a basic system and make them play basic football.
We won't think outside of the box for anyone.

If they are anywhere in the first three rounds and Safety is at the top of their board, then they should pull the trigger. I am just as tired of crappy Safety play as I am poor O-line and D-line.
Having said that, I doubt they go into the draft with a gaping hole there. They will nab a Free Agent.

Things I always find amusing.......
Fans who take anything said pre-draft at face value.
Fans who believe everything is about the OL/DL.
Fans who think they know better.
Fans who dislike trading up or down in the draft.
Far too many unknowns to say for certain where an excellent player would best help this team......OL, DL or S.
I've always been an advocate of moving early picks up or down as often as possible to give the best chance of having the BPA fill a need.

It totally makes sense. In a draft where there is a lot of good O-line and D-line players take a Safety!

It does crack me up when a Cowboys fan is adamantly opposed to trading up. We landed Dez by trading up. We landed Lee by trading up. We landed Claiborne by trading up. Heck, we landed Emmitt by trading up.

I meant it more in the weird-to-see-a-PIT-icon-with-that-hair-and-a-Star kind of way. Though, injuries aside, I think he's been a great player. He gets more than his share of attention for the hair, but at his peak, he's an impact defensive player.
When asked whether Jason Garrett is the right head coach for this team: "I don't think there is anyone else that could. I think he is an unbelievable coach. We've responded to him and he has made us better football players, better people. If you watch us I think we play with a certain relentless spirit." --Sean Lee

No matter how you gift wrap it, drafting for need is a terrible idea.

Strong is the Steeler hate for this one.
