After the 1st couple of snaps sail over the punters head or has no zip on it so that it can get blocked then it becomes a major problem.

Or maybe like so many, you really have no clue about the "prime" of long snappers. Ladouceur is in his prime. Long snappers usually play through their mid-30s because they simply aren't on the field enough to wear out like position players.

Signing a long snapper Ladouceur's age is far from abnormal, but I guess that makes others in the league clones of JJ, too. For instance, San Francisco signed its long snapper to a five-year deal in 2009. He was 32 at the time.

Flawless long snappers are hard to find, so if you find one, you don't let go until it's necessary to let go.

I like Hughlett, too, by the way, but there's no reason to take a risk with him when long snappers are relatively inexpensive.
"'Room' always makes me chuckle. That's irrelevant. What we have on a given day really doesn't relate to what you're ultimately going to have and how you're going to manage."

Sure DEN's Aaron Brewer is only 22 and WAS' Nick Sundberg is only 26, but CHI's Pat Mannelly is 37 and TEN's Mike Leach is 36. Age doesn't really matter, as long as you can do it, and young or old long-snappers don't get paid that much so it's not like you'll ever need to dump one because they're getting too expensive.

And every team has a LS. There are enough spots on the roster that you can afford to carry a player with a highly specialized set of responsibilities, or in this case responsibility.

My favorite hobby - watching Mustangs fall behind in the rearview mirror of my '01 C5.

Resign him!

Long snapper has to be one of the best careers in the NFL.
