.......and others have seconded: that contract extension to lard butt Free was criminal. The fact he's still on the TEAM might be even worse....what a JOKE

People want us to win every year but all things being equal, a 3% chance is a 3% chance. With parity and more than a little mismanagement its surprising that we have been .500 over the past 17 years.
The drafting for backups, letting Lacewell run the scouting department for a decade, Dave Campo, bad trades for WR, the Hutch/Carter era, and more.
We've been mismanaged no doubt but even had we not made said mistakes nothing is guaranteed and there is a ton of parity.
I know it's easy to be the cynic but I am just not going to do it.

You know I wouldn't mind Free's body type if he actually had some mammoth arms. Yet instead he combines a weak chest and fat stomach with skinny arm/forearms and frail legs. I get disgusted even looking at still pictures of this guy. Him and Sensabaugh need to go!

There is nothing you can do about it, so suck it up. Making a post every 5 minutes, or stalking every thread about Jerry, spewing your venom and hate for him, is pointless...sorry.

Great post.
And it's great because it's realistic.

Free is a better fisherman?

This is a team who is battling several major injuries to
key players including Pro Bowl talents like Lee, Austin, Jenkins, Murray,
Carter and Ratliff. Other key starters missing include Costa, Smith, Church and
Coleman. That is 11 key players - that's half the starting lineup. Yet we still went 8-8.

this is what happens when an oil man/huckster thinks he knows what he is doing and everyone else is hiring professional football people.

You've got a league of 32 teams, meaning with all things being equal, all teams have a little over a 3% chance of winning the Super Bowl.
Granted it may be kind of cool if all the other teams simply "gave up" and let the Cowboys win the SB more often, but as we know that's not how this stuff works.
|
Now this is a realistic post.

And only a handful of these so called "professional football people" do a decent job. You sound as if 31 other teams are hiring these "football people" and making tremendous strides. Funny.

That's the thing...
You've got a lot of folks who simply think that hiring a "football-guy" is the magic.
Several years ago the Bills hired Tom Donahoe, who was considered "da bomb" when it came to front-office guys to get the Bills back into the playoffs on a yearly basis. He then hired the then hot head coaching names in Greg Williams and then Mike Mularkey.
The whole thing was a disaster.
But there are many examples of similar failures...
Jimmy in Miami
Parcells in Miami
Pioli in KC
Holmgren in Cleveland
A "football guy" isn't a guaranteed ticket to success.

Look at it from a different prospective. We have suffered through 15+ years of utter failure. Yet we have fellow fans defend the source of that failure tooth and nail. You don't get the disgust fine but the disgust is valid. Honestly it is more valid then the hope that this is a smoke screen or that everything will be ok. Even more infuriating to me is people defend this man when he has said himself he has done a horrible job. A football guy would at least give us hope, as it is, we are relegated to hoping Jerry gets lucky or doesn't screw us to bad.

Utter failure?
There have been points of utter failure... The three Campo years and the last partial year of the Wade regime... Yep... failure.
Jerry & Co have made some very bad mistakes.
But there have been some good seasons too.
And some seasons of mediocrity.

You mean like those teams preparing for a top 10 draft pick?

you win by controlling the line of scrimmage. On offense it makes your qb, rb and wr's better.
on defense it makes your lb, and db's better.

No I mean a team that hasn't been a serious contender since the mid to late 90's.
