Default Rant Spots writer speculates Cowboys should be interested in trading for Ryan mallet

Just hours after the New England Patriots announced a new three-year extension that will keep Tom Brady with the team through 2017, a Dallas Cowboys beat writer said the two teams are discussing a possible trade for Ryan Mallett. Considering Tony Romo‘s age, Brady’s new extension and the Cowboys’ awful luck with developing quarterbacks over [...]

I dunno.

They spent a 3rd on him and likely value the time they have put in.

Can't imagine they wouldn't want at least a 2nd.

Wouldn't shock me if someone was interested though.

That would be a terrible trade for us IMO. Miles' contract is friendly. We would be trading a starter for a developmental QB and have to sign another WR plus another WR to be honest. We need depth. Felix Jones, I would be all over it.

The fault, dear Brutus, is not in our stars but in ourselves. Shakespeare

think about it...

if our GM gets fired he will not get another job as GM
if our director of pro-personnel gets fired he will not get another job as that in the NFL
if our HC gets fired he will not get another job as HC in the NFL

ALL THESE PEOPLE ARE IN POSITION ONLY BECAUSE JERRY IS THE OWNER AND GM

and not one of them is qualified to do the job they are doing

Then the OL has to be re-tooled if Mallett were to become a Cowboy. At least for down the line. Ryan is from Texarkana, AR., but played at Texarkana, TX. (Texas High). He was here recently(Texarkana). He's a big man.

I'm sure this Cowboys reporter's insights basically go no further than "Jerry Jones draws a lot of attention. Jerry Jones has ties to Arkansas. Mallet played for ...... wait a minute!!!"

Despite labeling myself a "realist", no one understands my pain or appreciates my special truth. Stupid world.

Considering that he really hasn't had the opportunity to put up numbers in the pros thus far, giving up a second-day draft pick is a bit of a gamble, but probably to be expected since that's the range you might draft a future QB in anyway.

With our OL, he would be knocked down every play.

So what's the source for this? Didn't see any link.

If true, I guess we're going full-on wrong kind of guy. Brent, Ratliff, now this guy with multiple drug issues in college... Guess we draft Honey Badger next.

Can you point me to the blurb for the beat writer?

I've only seen one writer even address it..and that was on Calvin Watkins twitter.

I don't think I'd be opposed to the idea of the trade, tho.
Thank you to all donated to the Jason Witten Camp drive!

Mallett and Coby Hamilton were teammates in high school (Texarkana, TX. High), and again at Arkansas. Mallett has expressed an interest in the two playing together in the NFL.

It's sounding more and more like they maybe aren't expecting Romo to do an extension.
