Default Are Some Positions Not Worthy Of a First Round Pick?

Besides Kickers of course.. Is it wise for a organization to spend a first on a RB, OG or Tight ends? Is it better to feel these needs rounds 3-7...

It really depends on how talented the player is. If the player is special and a can't miss prospect at one of the every down positions I'm taking him first round regardless of position.

Guards are very rarely drafted high, but usually you don't get players that are as skilled as Warmack & Cooper, so if we can get our hands on one of those 2 then you have to make the pick, but I don't think either will fall to us.. In this day and age, you will find quality RB's later in the draft that can get the job done as long as they have a line in front of them.

Call me crazy but (unless a guy is a phenomenal talent) I wouldn't draft RB, WR, TE, OG, OC, S, CB, NT in the first round. Late first round is different. But an early or mid first rounder, I would only draft QB, LT, pass rushing DL or LB, or a play making LB in the 1st. Interior OL, skill position offensive players, secondary, and gap filling NTs can be had in later rounds.

Well I wouldn't take a kicker or a punter.
1. Brandon Magee will beat out Ernie Sims for the backup WILL/MO roster spot.

2. Ron Leary will start at right guard over Bernadeau.

3. Joseph Randle, Terrance Williams and Gavin Escobar will have more combined TD's than DeMarco Murray, Miles Austin and Jason Witten.

4. Bruce Carter makes the Pro Bowl.

5. The starting OL will be Smith-Livings-Frederick-Leary-Free

You are crazy with regard to CBs. That is a premium position that can make or break a team.

I'd argue that the 49ers and Ravens didn't have an elite CB.

I just find it kinda overrated. I mean CB is important, but you rarely see a CB make an entire team dominant. Look what someone like JJ Watt or Von Miller can do for an entire defense. I don't think the CB position should be that coveted. There aren't even many elite CBs in the league.

Funny thing in hindsight if you look at the 2000 draft where kicker Sebastian Janikowski was a first rounder it wasn't that bad a pick... A lot of complete misses that year...

You can draft any position in this year draft in the first round except for kicker. It all depends where you are at in the first round. Kansas might night spend their first round pick on a qb but that doesn't mean they would not try to jump back into the first round to draft a qb in the late 20's.
Collin Klein in 2013 plz !!!!

IMO, no player is beyond picking in the first round. If your roster is basically stacked, or you only have a couple positions to fill, and where ever you're drafting, those areas of need, no one is really there in that spot, draft the best player and stock your roster with talented people.
