Word. wouldn't mind bringing in turner with a team friendly contract. He tore us up when we played atl.

The Atlanta Falcons aren't standing pat after finally winning a playoff game. They are cleaning house.
Albert Breer reports via a team source that the Falcons will release running back Michael Turner, defensive end John Abraham, and Dunta Robinson on Friday. ESPN first reported the news. Atlanta Journal-Constitution points out the team saved $15.9 million in cap space.
Turner's release was expected. He was set to cost $6.9 million against the cap, a huge figure for a middling veteran running back. We listed Robinson as a potential cap cut last week because his $8 million salary didn't match up to his play. Robinson is a solid tackler and decent cover cornerback, but he hasn't lived up to his huge contract in Atlanta. His release gives the team more room to try to re-sign cornerback Brent Grimes and safety William Moore.
Did you know there are only 5000 Snow Leopards in the wild now and they are confined to Central Asia? However, the effective global population (those likely to reproduce) is less than half that number.

I'm more interested in Dunta but I suspect he is out of our league price wise. Turner would be a good pickup but I wonder about his salary demands. I don't know if he's ready to be a backup either although I suspect he'd get a good number of snaps. Love John but he's at best a situational rusher now.

I see Turner gain one or two yards too many times, but I think if he runs part time, he can be a solid backup RB.
Abraham is the surprise cut but I guess Falcons will target a FA pass rusher like Osi or Freeney and get another one thru the draft. Abraham can still go in pass rushing but maybe a liability against the run.

Dunta is ok. He didn't live up to his contract since the 1st year. He will come a lot cheaper.
I wonder if Dunta can play safety. He is a big hitter and it seems to me that he plays better when he is closer to the LOS. To me, he would have to improve in his tackling in open space.

I'm torn on the guy. In Houston he was well rounded at the beginning of his career and then turned into a big hitter who got burned and took too many chances. This showed up off and on in Atlanta.

Just in case you were wondering the Falcons will carry close to $10M in dead money with all these cuts. This also includes Ray Edwards' contract from late last season.
"It's little bit like the description of pornography from years back. It's hard to define it. But you know what it is at the end of it. It's hard to define it. I think you know who is more physical. Often times you see that in the fourth quarter. A lot of time the team on the other side feels it. We pride ourselves on being a physical football team. It's important to us. It's an important time of the year to lay that foundation." - Coach Garrett

I agree. I think in Atlanta he didn't take much chances at all with Van Gorder's bend but don't break zone coverage. When he did take chances, he wasn't fast enough to recover and that made him look bad.
However, it seems like he was a good tackler when the ballcarrier is trying to make a move on him. His issues are him trying to tackle when the ball carrier is running full speed.

Actually that's interesting. Would he be better than Sensi? I think so. Would he be the answer at S? Not sure. Depends on the contract and his ability to play S.

Why is Abraham a surprise cut? He will be turning 35 in May.

Because w/o him, they are weak in rushing the passer. He was still playing @ a high level before his sprained ankle. The only way they could upgrade their D line now (not a guarantee) is if they get 2 pass rushers from FA and/or draft.
I would understand if Falcons had good pass rushers on the team already but they don't.
