Default Should the Cowboys just go all out and trade & sign the missing pieces?

Bill Parcells ain't gonna be here much longer. Who knows what kind of coach we'll be stuck with after he leaves. I hope Jerry Jones has changed his opinion on coaches, but we may end up with some more years of Dave Campo, Barry Switzer and Chan Gailey types. It may require a legend like the Tuna to keep Jones in check.

The Cowboys have already decided they're going for it now judging by the contracts they gave Marco Rivera, Jason Ferguson, Keyshawn Johnson, Aaron Glenn and Drew Bledsoe. Larry Allen and Flozell are creeping up there in age. Even though their usefulness is probably much less than in the past with our new focus on the 3-4, Greg Ellis and La'Roi Glover are nearing the end of their careers.

Now that it appears we've had one of the best drafts in years, the defense is just about ready to be polished into one of the league's best. I say Jones & Parcells shout out a big "Screw it!" and roll the dice on some more key personnel. To hell with it, go ahead and give Ty Law a fat contract and move either him or Henry to the other safety spot. At the same time, trade away some future draft picks for some much needed depth at wide receiver, offensive tackle and linebacker. Is it just me or does this new squad look like a team that is only a few swaps and signings away from being a legit Super Bowl contender? We may regret it but the window of opportunity only comes around every so often. With several players creeping up there in age and Parcells giving the NFL his last shot, I say we go out in a blaze of glory!

Is it just me...or did I just fall in the Redskins forum?

Just joking but I think they should continue with their current process in being patient and signing quality players who fit the total sceme of being a successful franchise. So that being said, I would say no to Law, but I also hope that the Boys continue to search for other players to fill their obvious needs at FS, etc.

Yes sir, blind optimism at its best! If the Skins can proclaim they're going to the Super Bowl after that terrible draft, several key players in turmoil and Joe Gibbs looking completely lost, then by god, I'm proclaiming great things for our Cowboys!

I was actually refering to the Redskins will to sign every FA they could find out there regardless if the puzzles fit to make themselves into a sure fire paper champion! But either could apply in terms of their blind optimism.

I think a Ty Law signing would be about as close as we'd come to imitating those high profiles signings by the Redskins. Parcells has been surgical about what type of players he wants in free agency. Instead of going for a higher profile Samari Rolle, we go with the more physical Anthony Henry. Instead of of going with the more highly regarded Wahle, we go to the leadership and nastiness of Marco Rivera. It is kind of funny though how we always poke fun at Skins fans every year for their huge offseason movement and ignore that our team just did the same thing this year. It can happen, some of those Raiders teams throughout history went pretty far with a bunch of old-timers and grizzled vets.

i would be in favor of it, realistically i think we are a WR and a vet backup away from being a legit contender, the NFC as a whole was very week last year with the exception of Philly, and possibly Atlanta, i cant see any reason why this team isnt better than the 03 team that went 10-6. im sure we can address those positions after June 1st when the next wave of free agents are released.

Yeah, but the skins will have a QB who KNOWS how to hand the ball off. And don't discount the power of multiple FB formations

I wasn't aware that we had signed Aaron Glenn. When did this happen?

As you said, the signings this year were carefully calculated to fit with exactly what we needed to improve our team.

The difference between what we did and what the skins did is that we didn't just try to sign the biggest name on the market to have the biggest name on the market on our team. We signed guys that played a specific style that we felt we needed to improve our team.

It is much better than '03. First, our QB has skills, and isn't coked out. Second, we have JuJo instead of THam. Lastly, our defense should be AWESOME.

That being said, we still have to beat the Iggles to get there. Will have to wait and see how the OLine plays before we can expect that. 10-6 isn't out of reach. Better than that may be a QC pipe dream.

Right. I think the boys should stay the current course. Take their time. The Howard deal tells me we are not going to leap before we look. I was al for the Howard deal and thought he would make the D stouter then any draft choice would. I was wrong. I am even more exstatic Jones did NOT pull the trigger on Howard now.

Let Bill pull all the rope he wants, I am starting to think no matter how muc he pulls, hes not going to hang himself anymore.

Relax and enjoy the ride. Nothings guarenteed to the boys, but Parcells has helped them make a jump to the next level. I am inclined to let him continue and watch and learn and ENJOY.
Step aside for the Cowboys from Hell!!!!!
