Default anyone know what our cap situation is?

anyone know what our cap situation is? obviously we didnt spend a ton of cash to acquire Howard, so if im guessing right we should have 7 or 8 million left, and with the next wave of free agents coming after june 1st, we could really plug a few more holes on this team.

I'm not positive, but our cap can't be that great. We spent a TON of money in the 1st part of FA this year and we're gonna have to sign all the rookies we just drafted so, the FA signing of the guys released on June 1st is probably going to be limited. But I'm not a cap expert so I'm just going by logic. I'm sure there are plenty of people here who are experts on the cap and I'm sure they can get more detailed into it.

That would be Adam.

Last I remember, we were still at 9.5 million range. Something like 4.5 million was going to be needed to sign our rookies, leaving us with 5 million. You want 2-3 million to cover last minute replacements for injuries, which leaves 2-3 million. I think...
That's why they play the game

Actually, you're quite wrong.
Prior to the draft we were 2nd in the league in cap space.

Yeah, I figured I was wrong. This Salary Cap stuff makes my head hurt. I was just taking a wild guess. The cap isn't exactly my forte.

7 mill ish is the number I've heard. ESPN said we were the only team in the league with the cap space to take on Edge's contract, hence he wasn't getting traded.

Two weeks before the draft the cap numbers were listed for every team the figure I posted was ours at the time and we haven't signed anyone since the numbers were released if you say we re-signed players their salaries were already figured into the figure.

Adam is the one who would know the exact number but again our number was 9.725mil under. we were one of two teams that could have taken Howards contract.

I try to avoid the calculating of the cap, and just let the experts do it. I understand how it works, but the hassles of going through it are disgusting.

Do most of you agree that after a couple teams crashed and burned at the start of the cap, alot more teams are figuring out how to work this damn thing? seems like theres alot less teams in complete ruins over the cap, although it still happens.

God, sometimes I wish I could apply my passion and knowledge(not sure how much it is) of football to other things too. Great example of how if I wanna know about something, I can easily do it

we are still in decent shape, but we are going to have sign some bad-*** rookies soon. not to mention Glenn. Things are going to come to a crawl until June 1st, when we make cuts and other teams make cuts. Then we'll look at adding and subtracting to our final 53. Either way, I'm looking forward to a damn good year of Cowboys football.

I remember hearing on ESPN recently that we would have been one of the few teams who could take on E. James contract if he was traded. Of course he isn't coming here, they were just making the point of how hard it would be to move him.
