Default Roy Williams... UNLEASHED!

Realistically we probably need to expect that our rookies, no matter how heralded, will struggle at times this year. Even so, I would think our pass rush should be improved.

And with Henry & Glenn added to Newman, coverage will undoubtedly be better.

That means Roy will be much more free to roam instead of trying (in vain) to protect our coverage weaknesses.

It was like having a junkyard dog on a short leash. But this year we should see much more of Roy Williams unleashed. Just stop and ponder that for a moment...

This could be very scary for opponents.

i have to agree that Roy Williams is due for a monster season - a year that will see his name become a household word if it isn't already. i don't know how vocal he is, but his presence on the field commands respect. allowed to use his instincts and ability in space, he will terrorize opposing teams, literally. unless Ware gets 10 sacks or Newman gets 10 picks, Roy is the preseason favorite for defensive MVP...

Let him go!!! Their is NOTHING like watching Roy come untouched through the line and nailing some unsuspecting QB. Unless he is breaking bones in TO's body that is...

I also agree. Having Roy close to the line basically gives us 2 Demarcus Ware's. He will be sitting there like a Tiger eyeing his prey. And you make take away his ability to snag receivers off the turf like a hunting falcon, but I predict a lot of Opposing team concussions. I also expect him to shoot in from the 1/4 backfield, and strip balls. He is truly a playmaker I CAN'T WAIT TO UNLEASE THIS DEFENSE!!!!

Sorry dude, but very scary and Newman don't belong in the same post.

I'm imagining it. AHHHHHH! That was scary. Watchout Laverneous, Plaxico, and T.O. HA!

The NFL network has been breaking down the 2002 draft and they had some highlights on Roy. He gets dogged alot for his coverage skills, but man you don't realize what an athlete he is at 230 lbs and how instinctive he is until you see him from the coaches cam making plays. It was incredible to watch.
I had an apartment and I had a neighbor, and whenever he would knock on my wall I knew he wanted me to turn my music down and that made me angry 'cause I like loud music... so when he knocked on the wall, I'd mess with his head. I'd say, "Go around! I cannot open the wall! I dunno if you have a doorknob on your side but over here there's nothin'. It's just flat."

Mitch Hedberg RIP

I am quite surprised at the disrespect some show Newman. I expect those folks will be eating their words this year.

Ya'll need to watch the Seattle game, he made some pretty good hits for a cornerback. But nothing compared to Roy of course.

What has Newman shown besides the fact Suggs was the better pick?

Maybe that he's a pretty damn good cornerback. Suggs wouldn't have the numbers he has in Baltimore on our defense the past few years. Besides, no cornerbacks look good without any pressure from the front seven. Newman will come into his own this year, and most will say he just came around, but it will be mostly because of the added pressure.
