HOnestly? He's solid, but he's not Steven Jackson. I would of taken Justin Smiley then taken JJones at #52. He likely would of been available. He could be really good, but at the very least he's an upgrade over Smiley.

I had meant to type "Hambrick" not Smiley in that last sentence.
CowboyFreak had posted "nm - wait here is the message....Julius Jones sucks"
I replied:
And that was all I posted in that thread.

In all honesty, this thread is still premature. We need at least another year, preferable two, before we can properly judge.
However, in the meantime, props to ABQ, Winiki, JTerrel and Rack (though you were sorta non-committal).

Well considering that I was the one who started that thread, I guess I should step up and "face the music".
At the time, I knew practically nothing about Julius. Seriously, I didn't even remember watching him play a down in College and, upon having watched us pass on both Stephen Jackson and Kevin Jones earlier in the day, I was looking for any insight, any information that could help me step back off of the ledge. Little did I know that we ended up with the Best Back in the entire Draft and, with an assist from the Buffalo Bills, perhaps picked up the Biggest Rookie Contributor for the 2005 Season by passing on Jackson & Jones (Det) in the first place.

Yeah I recognized your sig. It still shows your new sig even in old posts. Good call Rack. I noticed some others in my advance search of last years draft who were bashing the Jones pick that now have Julius Jones pics in their sigs. What a difference a year makes LOL

This thread isnt so much to promote Jones as it is the trade. We got Jones and Marcus Spears in that trade and so many hated it then but love what we got now LOL.

I can't totally blame you, I won;t sit here and lie and say I was a Julius guy the whole time I was a KJ supporter and held on till the end we would trade back up to get him, But upon researching JJ and a buddy of mine thats a ND fan I got used to the pick and Loved the idea of 2 firsts this season

I was VERY critical of the JJ pick. One of the replies in that thread sums up my thoughts exactly "ND RBs Suck".
It is still too early to say for certain but it looks as though, Bill really knows what he's doing.

That was the funniest part of all. Since it shows the new sigs even on old posts it's pretty comical to see the Julius sigs after the posts that were most negative about the pick.
And that's why we're not GMs, no matter how much we delude ourselves, we don't know squat.

Nevermind the Julius Jones trade. If you want to have some real fun, dig up the old "Reshard Lee is a HOF in waiting" threads.

What is also pretty funny is looking back at how quickly Vinny wore out his welcome. After the first two weeks or so there were people talking about how Vinny sees the blitz and gets rid of the ball so quickly and how much of an upgrade he was... about 3 weeks later everyone wanted him benched.

If you look real carefully, the poster named "Rahul" has crow scattered around his mouth.

Winicki must have been a running back in college, he's always right about that position. He was right on in that George would be a huge bust, and then predicted Jones' success. When the big W speaks about the future of our running backs, I listen.
