The development of Tucker, Pettiti, Rogers or Vollers and our available cap space.

Hos, I'm rooting for Tucker to strongly take the RT position but if we can find better talent, then we should go after it. All I'm saying is we invite Shelton for a look, have our coaches evaluate him, see if he'd be an upgrade, and see what his asking price would be. IF all those "stars" align, then we should sign him. IF not, then send him on his way. Leave no stones unturned.....especially w/ Bledsoe back there...

Don't support signing LJ Shelton means are you sure about Kurt Vollers, Torrin Tucker, and Jacobs Rogers if they could play Right Tackle.
Support signing LJ Shelton means if he comes to Dallas and he's real good and can beat the competition for the Right Tackle spot, I say sign him...
But lets see what happens...
and somebody mention he had a past injury...
You got to really look at the real picture... Jerry Jones feels he has enough risks out on the field as it is... and you have to look at how serious his injury is to Offensive Tackles...like compare him to other good offensive tackles that had the same injury he did....

Why not bring him in? It's not like Flo has been lighting it up.
No handouts for starting jobs. Heck, if LJ wins the LT spot, move Flo over to RT. That would give us a tremendous OL.
I'm all for it.

And now in AZ, he would be merely a swing tackle, and he wants to start.

Fair enough.

I do know that Shelton came to camp over weight last year. He claimed he piled on some pounds when recovering from two surgeries. But he met the challenge of being replaced (by Leonard Davis, wasn't it?) at LT by publically proclaiming he would do his best to learn both the RT and guard positions. Which he apparently did til he got injured and went on IR?
How many games did this guy start in his career? I think he's versatile and not a bad egg.

Agreed.

I like Denny Green too, think he's a darn fine coach but when he does not like YOU, he does not like you.
And even if he likes you, he's apt to sit you for Shaun King and blow the season..

I think Shelton's a decent player. I wouldn't be sad if we signed him or sad if we didn't. BTW, he's only been in the league 6 years not 10.

Vollers - Nothing more than a journeyman, stop gap measure.
Rogers - already shown cannot adapt to RT
Pettiti - massive project, no chance ready to step in this year
Tucker - some upside
Bring Shelton in.

Do you know Tom's history in Squealerville? Inevitably he Machaivellianed himself out of a job. And his hated "rival" was the "simpleton" straight arrow Cowher.
Tom's one of those guys who thinks he's smarter than anyone else, and then outsmarts himself.
we shall see how this one plays out..

Ok, you don't like TD. He isn't a guy that gets a lot of neutral opinions. Say what you like the man doesn't lack balls. He has a daily double going- the first was getting a late 1st round pick for Peerless Price and turning it into Willis McGahee, a move which was widely questioned at the time but now looks brilliant. The 2nd half of the daily double is his deal for Losman. We'll know more about that gambit in a year or two, and you're right, how the Buffalo OL performs will be a big factor in how Losman does. If TD hits big on Losman, he'll be bullet proof in B Lo.

This guy plays three positions. LJ Shelton has been a pretty decent player for AZ in his career and that is saying something. Think about how many 1st rounders washed out in AZ. I can't see breaking any banks over him but I would definatly consider him if he's healthy. Rivera may be fine but he may not be. Flo may get his shyt together but he might not. Our RT position may get decided this off season but would anybody bet on that? How long can Larry go? Terry is a talented player but he too has issues. Do you want to buy Terry's history with a big contract? There are plus and minus to this thing but the fact that he plays both Tackle and Guard is huge IMO.
Could not hurt to check his pulse and see if there's opportunity.

Or Ferguson or Marco Rivera
I agree.
If whomever is in the developmental stage can't take the gig or beat out an incumbent then they have no reason being on the field.
Why should the presence of players who haven't done squat limit the Cowboys is acquiring possible upgrades?

He really doesn't do anything for me. The Cardinals paid big dollars to Oliver Ross, who is hardly Art Shell himself, to upgrade the position. He's a mediocre starter. The kind you are always looking to upgrade. I believe that is something Tucker and Vollers are fully capable of living up to in-house.

Despite labeling myself a "realist", no one understands my pain or appreciates my special truth. Stupid world.

Amen brother!! I don't know what it is but Denny hasn't liked these guys since day one of his arruval. Especially LJ. Had him riding pine for awhile when he first took over the HC duty. LJ really isn't that bad I just think he underperformed cause he and Denny didn't get along.......at all. Funny thing is, he likes Bubba Franks. I don't get that.
AS: Cowboys ice their own kicker in 19-13 OT loss
“That is one of the luxuries of my position as owner as well as the ultimate decision maker, general manager and president – I can do that and take the losses and come back for more,” Jones said.
God help us...............
