I don't understand how people can already have made up their mind about Henson. Nors, how are you going to say Henson can't beat out Bledsoe in 2006? We've seen a handful of preseason games, one half and 2 series of legitamte football out of Henson. He came in here not having played in 3 years, and people already wrote him off. Not alot of rookies come into the league, even if they have 4 years of college ball at a top level program and excell in this league.
Leinhart is going to struggle mightily in 2006. He won't fall out of the top 10 like Ben Roethlisberger, to a team that already has alot of talent. He's is going to one of the worst teams, and he's going to be no exception as far as 1st year players go.
I would say that Henson deserves a legit shot before he is written off.

Thats valid. And its probably reasonable to say the same about Romo. Both are unproven. It probably dumb to call Henson a clown at this point....or to call Romo Clint Stoerner II.

Henson is Stoerner, Romo at this point.
Thats my point - who emerges - that will be seen. I'm not writing anyone. Its those who elevated Henson last year that are in for the fall.

As it plainly stated in the article, the money Romo received was proof the Cowboys think he can be a backup #2 QB. That would be behind Drew Henson, once Henson takes over for Drew Bledsoe after the 2005-06' season.

The Romo contract is just smart business. They are covering their bases and can get out of it cheaply if they want to.
If Romo is the guy, then they have him locked up. If Henson is the guy, they still have Romo as a #2 if he pans out. If Bledsoe is the guy, which barring injury I think he will be this year, then they have Romo as a number #3 and they're paying him #3 money (this year).
Heck, none of know who is gonna be 'Da Man. All the contingencies are now covered as far as QBs currently on our roster are concerned. And I agree with CBZ. I don't see another one being added this year unless one of our three goes down with an extended injury.
Evening CBZ.

You are blindly believing that? Henson is in a total dog fight with Romo. Maybe Romo is the next QB in line....
Bledsoe era? I'm thinking we may have something this year!

sounds like to me they put him on equal footing with Henson... but, that 900,000 salary his second year makes him expendable if he doesn't over take him... they can afford to keep him... but, they might just dump him and save the money...

I'll hold off for now, Mikey. Inevitably, it just encourages him.
BTW, I have a sneaking suspicion all this Romo-Henson back and forth is a clever cover to keep the heat off Nors' REAL LOVE.
Number 11.
But I trust you see thru that ruse, Mike.
G'nite.

Well put. This is a good low risk hedging your bets move. Romo has a couple of years working with Payton under his belt. He gets one more year to prove he is progressing at a pace the team is confident with or he hits the road. The ball is in Romo's court.

Amen! The revolving door at QB needs to come to an end.
This is a team who is battling several major injuries to
key players including Pro Bowl talents like Lee, Austin, Jenkins, Murray,
Carter and Ratliff. Other key starters missing include Costa, Smith, Church and
Coleman. That is 11 key players - that's half the starting lineup. Yet we still went 8-8.

Want my theory? In Nors quest to turn Dallas into NE, he sees Romo as the "Tom Brady".
Also, he was a big QC supporter so he sees Henson as the reason for QC being jettisoned and hates Henson as a result. JMO.
