Will we keep a FB this year?
Anderson hung it up, Campbell is back so we will use a lot of two TE sets, and we might want to keep an extra roster spot for our front 7.
I think we keep 4 RBs and no true FB this season.
Thoughts?

We will keep Lousaka Polite.
We will cut Bickerstaff.
Tyson Thompson will be on the practice squad.

That's my thought as well. I just hope that Polite shows enough on special teams to stick around.

Yes, but it won't be Darian "The Repenter" Barnes.
We're going to be in a lot of 1 back sets with 2 TEs now that Campbell is back.
With Richie Anderson out of the picture the FB will resort to the traditional role of power blocking. That leaves Barnes the odd man out.
Lousaka Polite was the best blocking FB in his draft class in some scouting reviews.
Personally, I am looking forward to watching him. Richie Anderson was a nice guy and a decent weapon, but I have never liked FBs whose best strength is their blocking. I'm glad Anderson is gone. Nothing personal. I just don't like that type of FB.
He was better than the Repenter though.

I just don't see it knowing Parcells and with all the potential changes on D, every roster spot is even more valuable.
With Campbell back and pass protection and run blocking at a premium I really think we keep 4 TEs and use two TEs much more than last year.
Polite making the team depends on:
A) How versatile he can be, he needs to show it running, receiving, blocking and excell on special teams.
B) How good the TEs look behind Witten and Campbell.
c) If one of the other long snappers beat out Robinson.
D) How many DL and LBs we need to keep to play both the 4-3 and 3-4.
I have nothing against FBs, but I really don't see keeping one on the roster happening this year.

If you told me you had something against FBs I'd tell you I have something against basketball referees. Just to keep the bias balanced.
Make no mistake about it, we'll use TEs in H-back formations while a FB sits on the bench. Even down on the goal line. However, it is too risky not to have a dedicated lead blocker to keep the defense on their toes.
You know why Jeff Robinson only catches TD passes? It has nothign to do with him being a redzone threat. It has to do with him not being a threat so he is forgotten. Anyone can catch a lollypop pass. He has 4 TDs on plays where the defense was caught napping, not 4 TDs on his amazing ability. His amazing ability is Long Snapper.
Haivng a FB gives you an extra runner as well. Seldom is a TE more effective than a FB on taking a handoff. If we see that a team is keyed on JJ we'll need someone to take the pill. Enter Polite.
I personally dont care if he never catches a pass. I just want a FB who can pick up the blitz and keep Henson upright. (Bledsoe or Romo too if serendipity dictates.)

I think we keep Polite...
Parcells puts a lot of stock in team captains... Polite was the first two year captain at Pitt since Dorsett...
