Sunday Ticket Alert
All regular subscribers know that an entry will appear on your bill every month showing that you are a subscriber but with zero due until it's time to renew. With all the talk and advertising going on about new rates and new subscriptions, I started getting nervous so my first order of business was to check the channel on my TV that allows you to subscribe from the comforts of your own home. Usually, I get a message that says " you are already a subscriber". Not this time. The sweat is starting to build up. My next step was to check my next bill to see if it had me down for The Ticket. It did not. My NBA package showed but not the NFL.
I called DirecTv and they did not have me down for auto renew. They gave me some lame excuse about a computer glitch. They said if a user added a feature, ie. HBO or something like that, the system automatically removed any Sports Package that you may have had. Of course I haven't requested a change in my programming for 2 years.
So he said he would add the package for me and I will get the $40 early bird special. I told him "bump that", I want my account put back just like it was. They tried to charge me more than I paid last year. I said I wasn't having it. He said my bill would reflect a credit each month along with every payment due so I will be paying the same price as last year.

Thanks for the heads up, I just got a bill today, I will have to check it out. DirecTV customer service is one of the worst in the biz IMO. If they didn't have Sunday Ticket, I believe they would be out of business

Same thing on my bill. I just called them, it took me 15 minutes to get a person and then it took me another 20 minutes to get the idiot on the phone to understand what I was talking about. She kept saying, "do you want to sign up for the early bird special?" Finally I got her to tell me how much the early bird special is and how much the auto renewal is. Then she got it. Jeeezzzz....

Yes, DirecTV customer service is whack!!! I was on the phone for 30 minutes with some lady who could barely speak english. She didn't understand what I was saying and I didn't understand what she was saying. I asked for a supervisor and she still couldn't get that right. I called back, got Justin on the line and he hooked me up.

Autorenewal is $199, earlybird is $219. I called and they had cancelled mine on April 26th for some unexplained reason. The rep didn't give me any trouble putting it back at $199.

I think I will just keep going to the sports bar.
My parents are long time Patriot fans in New Hampshire. They have had numerous problems with Patriot fans in Northern New England. Apparently, DirecTV will give you an out of area network affiliate and for some reason, still black out the Patriot games.
I'll just keep my digital cable.

Mine was cancelled as well. Switched it back no problem but you can't help but think DirecTv is trying to be a little slick in all this.

Thanks for the public service, Sportsbabe. You saved me $20.
And "Timmy" at DirecTV figured out how to load me back in at $199, which saved his life.

I live Metro Boston and have Ticket. Run into blackout issues and time carryover issues. Buy the $5 LOCAL, AND YOU MISS NOTHING. Put rabbit ears up and you have to get local coverage? If not you are like Miki In canada screwed and SOL!

Kinda OT, but I just saw the latest DTV commercial. Had the sound down, but it had some guy in Bears jersey celebrating and dancing along w/ a bunch of other folks that they had the ticket. Dick Butkus, Peyton Manning, and Barry Sanders was in it, too. Kind of a weird commercial.
Thank you to all donated to the Jason Witten Camp drive!

Excellent information here. Way to be on your toes. I would have never caught this.
I called Direct TV, got a person rather quickly and he was well spoken. He told me that I was not up for automatic renewal and I guess he tried to fix it. He said that if my July bill didn't say automatic renewal, that I should call back and subscribe to the early bird special + a $20.00 dollar credit. He noted it in the computer under my account. I hope that takes care of it. He said they would take care of everyone one way or another, but certainly call and get it taken care of.
Thanks again, and everyone should pass this on to anyone or any othe board they frequent.

Well, after reading this thread I saw I was not down for auto-renew on the Sunday Ticket channel and panicked, don't know exactly why ..called and they told me the auto-renew "you are already a subscriber" message is not being shown "til later this month".
I think it was a lie,
