Default Question

Do we really want Pete Hunter on our team? He is definitely not a team player we found that out when asked to move to free safety. Guys help me out here cause i really don't want someone on my team that won't do something for the sake of the team. He thinks he is a corner HA! Yeah and Deion was a nose taclke.

I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt until training camp. If he still refuses to help the team during training camp and he doesn't make the grade at CB I say cut him loose. We could easily keep Frazier, Thornton or one of the other first year guys on the roster in his place.

Thats a major pet peeve of Parcells - players that have overinflated opinions on their talent.

He's a longshot to make team unless he apologizes and moves to FS - JMO

I used to be a Petey fan, even when he was playing somewhat poorly last season. But I don't like public comments detrimental to the team.

Cut him.

Somebody posted an interview with Woodson a few days ago and he stated that Hunter was in the mix for free safety. I didn't see or hear the interview but it was definitely in a thread!

I saw that. I want to believe Woody, but I have also heard reports from Dale (though I know he is not the same authority) that Hunter has been tried at safety and failed miserably.....

Parcells himself has addressed this. He's gonna be in Dallas as a CB. If you don't like that, there's not much you can do about it.

Parcells approached him and asked. That's all he could do. It wasn't an ultimadeum like most of you would have wanted.

Oh yeah... to finish off the rant... Don't judge him as not being a team player because there are people worse than him in the NFL that are doing the same thing. He's doing what he's doing because he thinks it's best for him. Parcells could have just as easily let him go for it but he didn't, so it's obviously not a problem to Parcells.

at the very least hunter could be a backup CB, competition at camp is always good. if someone is better he'll be gone.

I would like to see Hunter and Davis compete for the job, but who knows what is going on inside Hunter's head right now. Scott just doesn't have the athletic ability I want in a FS.

He's worried about money. It is a common fact that CBs make more money than FSs. Unless you are a world beater at FS. He knows he can't be.

His mistake is that he would actually make more money playing FS for us than looking for a job as a CB. If he doesn't make the cut I really don't see many teams beating down his door with money in hand.

The Despeardoes need CB help.

He's played this poorly. If he's not careful that's his best option.

Hunter says he doesn't want to play FS, so Parcells says, "OK, have your own selfish way, I won't ask you to play FS."

Ah, but Parcells doesn't want him to play CB, ... where does that leave Hunter?

He has "big-babied" his own ticket out of Dallas.

Just my take, we'll see.

Hunter, simply put, may not want to be shuffled around to a free safety. You bash him for not being a team player and him being selfish because he doesn't do something he doesn't want to do.

How many times have you not want to have done something? You're all hypocrites to do this to him. Keep in mind when it's happened to you, you were probably kids and given the old "Do it or your grounded" treatment. That's an ultimadeum, not freedom to choose.

What are you talking about, "Do it or you're grounded"

Get real, you do what the coaches tell you to do.

I have seen TE's get moved to tackle.
Do you think they WANTED to go from catching passes and running the ball to fighting DL & LB'ers every play ?
No, they did it because it helped the team.

I have seen FB's get moved to guard.
They did it not because they wanted to, but because it helped the team.

I had been THE running back in my class through Pop Warner, Jr High, Freshman ball, JV and varsity as a soph.

We got a new coach when I was a Jr that ran the stick-I.
He needed someone he could depend on to be the upback, the blocking back, the "guard in the backfield" so to speak.
Guess what, he picked me.

I didn't like it.

I only ran 4-5 times a game after that, and caught 3-4 passes, where, like I said before, I had always been THE running back and had always carried 20 + times a game.

Even though I didn't like it, I did it both my Jr & Sr. year, because that's where the coach decided the team needed me.

He did let me return punts & kickoffs, but I wanted to be the tailback.

My point is, if Parcells asked Hunter to try FS, he should do it, ... end of discussion.
