Responding to the original post...
Assuming that Philly has not improved at all, and that everything you typed is true (i.e. Ware, Spears, Canty and Burnett are all first round talents)... then the Cowboys are indeed alot closer to the Eagles than before. If all that is true, maybe they have bridged the gap between a 6-10 team and a superbowl team.
But I have my doubts. Optimism flows for every team during the offseason. 'Skins fans think they were a missed call or two away from being in the playoffs last year and Giants fans think they were an injury or two away. Suffice it to say that I think your being a little bit optimistic. Everything you wrote could come true...
we'll find out on October 9th and November 14th. Your team has two chances to prove how close they are to Philly.

Uh... check please.
Thanks for not making me feel any dumber than I already do.
I thought that was a little too easy.
Dammit! I asked where you thought the Eagles were better and you tricked me!
Okay... I'm just an idiot.

[View Full Quote]But in the NFL, as in any other kind of history, it's cyclical. No one stays on top forever because the league changes as rapidly as franchises develop a winning formula. It doesn't take as big a revolution as free agency to stop a wheel and turn it counterclockwise...just a key loss or two in the FO, a run on assistant coaches, an injury or two that savvy drafting and smart signings just could not compensate for for whatever reason...a few rules changes robbing some good players of impact, the moves of the other division teams..you wake up one fine morning and you're not on top anymore.
Even when you're doing everything "right".
There is most certainly such a thing as a "window" of opportunity. Sometimes like with the Bucs, you manage to win it all before the glass comes shattering down. Your team has in its favor a wider window due to cap solvency and fine coaching, but there are no Empires anymore..not even in New England.
No trash talking here, but I do not think you will be as dominant this year, meaning, the Boys, Skins in their second year under Gibbs, and Jints in their second under Coughlin will start to make headways in that critical area of "continuity".
PS If you graduated this year, congrats.

I know this won't last forever, but I don't believe in a "window of opportunity" like you're talking about.
A franchise can stay on top as long as four things stay consistant, coaching, drafting, cap management and the player's ability.
We kept our coaches and front office intact, our drafts have been extremely solid since 2002, and we are still about ten million under the cap (which includes Simon's ridiculous 5.1 million dollar franchise tag). Because of our player's ages (only five starters over 28, none over 31) and potential (Andrews, Sheppard, Smith, Patterson, Lewis, Ware and Rayburn are all going to get better), I like our player's ability.
And I graduate in three weeks.

And Rivera may be better than Andrews, but I'll take my chances with the kid.

You're out of your freaking mind. I shot this down last year before pre-season, then Witten went out and had a year that should have educated you and you're still preaching this tripe?

No it was my fault, I thought it would be easier to write the players you had that were better than ours even though that's not the question you asked.

I know I asked him to list where the Eagles were better... but he threw a curveball and listed where he thought WE were better.

No, you're not.
It's just so rare to find an Eagles fan who WON'T argue superiority man-to-man, that you really expect them ALL to argue LJ Smith is better than Jason Witten.
(Of course, for the ultimate in homer match ups, see the Skins fans)

At least you didn't write a 1,000 word response like I did. That kinda made me feel stooooopid.

After reading his response I'm tempted to write a 1000 word response on how to answer a question.

lol.
I feel the way a Stormtrooper must feel after Obi-Wan just used the Jedi mind trick on them, and he's watching the land speeder drive off into the distance:
"Did I just say those aren't the droids we're looking for?"

Daym I didnt expect this many responses in this post.
As for who is better right now. Id say the Eagles are still better. What my post was about was how cuz of our strong FA and draft we have really closed in on Philly. I think if we can a FA and Draft next year close to what we had this year we could pass Philly up.
One thing. With or without Owens the Eagles will still be a good team.
As for McNabb and Bledsoe. I dont think McNabb is that much better then Bledsoe. McNabb is one of the most overrated QBs in the NFL. But I think McNabb is one of the most gifted athletes in the NFL. McNabb great athletic ability is what opens things up for him on offense. Now his arm. It aint that good.
If I wanted a QB for pure athletic talent I would go with McNabb over Bledsoe easy. But if I wanted a QB with passing talent I would take Bledsoe over McNabb real easy.
If we can protect Bledsoe and if we can be lucky nuff for someone to cut a good WR June 1st then Bledsoe will be dangerous. As far as thrown the ball I would be more worried about Bledsoe then I ever would McNabb. Bledsoe can make throws McNabb cant even dream of makin.
