On fish's show, he had Leon on. It was actually Leon's Canty story, Fish wasn't there. It was basically where reporters were flocking Ware and Spears and one of them was going into their story for the umpteenth time and Leon heard Canty behind him complain about media asking the same thing over and over, not wanting to listen to his story again and something about having to buy his lunch.(maybe he was waiting to have lunch with Ware and Spears?) It sounds like an overreaction by Fish.

I remember when Pete Hunter was coming out, there was an article written about how Hunter ran in some old sneakers with holes in them. He reportedly told the scout he'd run in anything just to have a chance to work out for the Dallas Cowboys. The article was all warm and fuzzy about Hunter and his desire to do anything to please.

"Great kid, I'm really pulling for him", said all the fans. "He has the right attitude to succeed." He was Ghandi in cleats.

Flash forward a couple of years, and there's an article about how Hunter said he won't play safety to help the team. That he wants to play corner or be traded.

The truth about Hunter probably lies somewhere in between those two stories. He isn't run through a brick wall for the team... but he'll probably do what it takes to help the team out.

Take what you read from the media with a grain of salt and look at the big picture rather than the snapshot that Fish provided in his blog.

If Canty becomes a solid contributor then this incident will be swept under the rug.

If he's a bust fans will look back to this incident and go hmmmm

I just hope the cat can play. He is a physical freak. There are very few 6'7" 270lb plus athletic people and most are in the NBA. Julius Peppers is listed at 6'-6" 280lb. Canty is an inch taller and is within the 2-3lbs of Peppers weight range.

Rarely do you find DE that tower over Olinemen and only give up maybe 25-30LB in weight.

I hope Chris Canty is a stud. While I like the rest of the draft. I think Canty has the best chance to be a HOF player.

This was my question...What were the circumstances. It sounds like he just got overheard in a private conversation and I have no doubt that most of the players get tired of the repetative questions. He is going to have to learn that as long as there is a reporter in the room there is no such thing as a private conversation.

At least it's not like he threw a tantrum at the media for asking him the same questions over and over. I think the media and this Fish guy need to just back the hell off of this one. He is creating a situation where none really exist IMO.

Leon said that he didn't know if Canty was talking to him or not since he had his back to him. Sounds to me that Canty was just complaining out loud to himself or maybe to another player if there was one there and Leon just overheard him.

Wow, Leon is still around? I remember him on KLIF seven or eight years ago when I used to listen to Fish's show all the time... I always wondered what happened to him.
