I didn't say that. I said he wouldn't be playing coverage all the time. Kind of silly to let a guy people compare to lawrence Taylor act like a CB 100% of the time.

If they can't play the run it won't matter who's rushing the quarterback and from what angle.

On the other hand, when we get to the Iggles and their offense is 90% dink passes to TEs and WRs, the 3-4 might be the better choice. We have 8 people in coverage pretty much automatically.

It's stupid to not have your best 11 players on the field together.

That is one fine Defense , Boy's (only one young rookie LB at a time ,please)

Gimme your ideal 3-4 lineup
|
LE: Spears/Ratliff
NT: Ferguson/Glover/Carson
RE: Glover/Ellis (alternating. I want Glover on the field more then Ellis)
LOLB: Burnett/Ogbogu
LILB: Shanle or James (whoever wins the job)
RILB: Nguyen/Fowler
ROLB: Ware/Thornton
Secondary: Doesn't matter cuz it'll be the same whether we play a 3-4 or a 4-3.

or go from those 4 man front to the 3 man fronts real easily as well. Plenty of presnap options.

That is a very true statement ,thats why we are all excited ,regardless of scheme,it's good to be a Cowboy. Thanks for the awsome draft Bill and Jerry. Not to mention the FA Jerry....

AMEN! It seems so obvious that we are more equipped for a 4-3 it's not even funny. Learning the 3-4 and mixing it in is fine, but we clearly do not have 4 LBs that are as good as our top 4 DLs. Of course, Nors would start 4 Darren Hambricks at LB rather than use the 4-3 because he apparently belongs to the Church of the 3-4 or something.

I like this.
RDE- Greg Ellis/Canty
LDE- Marcus Spears/Ratliff
NT- Jason Ferguson/La' Roi Glover
ROLB- Demarcus Ware/Obogu
RILB- Kevin Burnett/James
LILB- Dat Nguyen/Shanle
LOLB- Kalen Thornton/Singleton
RCB- Anthony Henry/Hunter
LCB- Terrence Newman/Glenn
FS- Keith Davis/Reese
SS- Roy Williams/Beriault

I like your linebackers. Not because I believe that's how it will end up, but because the Cowboys would be in good shape if after some years of experience and a more suitable 3-4 defense, Kalen Thornton was suddenly good enough to force Parcells to give him a starting outside linebacker spot. Wouldn't that be something if Ware, Thornton, and Burnett all proved to be made of solid stuff and our starting linebackers for years to come? Here's hoping that are drafts and rookie free agents are going to get a lot better and start shining even more with Parcells in charge.

quite frankly i don't know why we just put the best 7 on the field and that is only possible with the 4-3.

I have more faith in Glover or Ferguson than James and Shanle put together.

But you discount the shear "magic" of the 3-4 Hos.
It's an amazing defense. Once you line up in it, it appears you have 40 men on your part of the field as opposed to only 11. And each, no matter how young or inexperienced or untalented suddenly has the ability of Lawrence Taylor.
That is the power of the 3-4... or at least as someone has tried to pass it off.

Well, I've been pimpin' Peter Boulware on this board for some time now. If he's healthy, I know it would make me feel better about our 3-4 magic dust.
