Sounds like Rob is going to get a great shot at winning the RT job. He couldn't ask for much more, and it must be exciting for him to be in that position.

Parcells talked about Petitti at length during the PC. Parcells said he has known about him for a while. He was a 4-year starter at Pitt. He knew about his background and his family. He said he knew about Petitti's father and his athletic background. Petitti weighed 361 at the Senior Bowl. That was definitely not good news. Parcells said it's not normal for a 21 yr. old to weigh that much. It made him think that if you weigh that much at the Senior Bowl, then you have no discipline or an eating disorder. He said a 21-yr. old weighing 361 usually only gets heavier as he gets older. Petitti hurt his toe in Mobile and ending up going home.

As a result of the weight and the injury, Petitti, a 4 year starter at Pitt, went in the 6th round. Parcells said you look for potential down there in the draft like a Jason Ferguson. It's worth the risk down there to take a chance. Parcells said he weighed 347 after the draft. Parcells told him then to be 335 on June 1 and he was. He then told him to be 325 in July and he was. Now, Parcells knows that he has discipline. Petitti has showed that he wants it. The weight coach of the Cowboys told Parcells that Petitti is a worker and not to worry about him making the running test. Parcells said that is why he is going to get a chance. Parcells told Petitti he now has the opportunity to show him what he's got at RT.

Man, I really, really hope that he can win the job. Do you know how great that would be? That'd mean we got a steal late in the draft and shored up a position of need.

I love it when good, young talent pans out... and I hope that's what happens here.

It would be really good if Rob could outright win the job. He would be a homerun pick that would counteract the strike out with Rogers (well, it isn't over yet with Rogers).
Rob going from 361 to 321 is a serious drop. I hope it was healthy weight loss.

Default your answer...

looks like the cats out of the bag.

i would describe myself as an average athelete with an above average work ethic. played football and baseball in hs, also had try outs with milwalke braves and baltimore orioles. played only football at lafayette college were i majored in mech eng. played two years in the continental football league, a minor league team of the cleveland browns, at linebacker.

now sadly, i am a 9/11 survivor. it's an event that has deeply effected me, my family and our country. thankfully, we have all come through alright.

Pittdawg, you were in the Towers during 9/11? I was across the River. I could see the flames from the 6th floor factory window in Queens.

My first thought was ... how are we gonna get those people out???

It was surreal. A HS buddy was a fireman stationed in Harlem. His unit was one of the first to arrive. He lost 17 friends that day ...

Good luck to you, and good luck to Rob. We surely need him ...

I had a friend, a native New Yorker, in the WTC - he was just a few floors below the impact in the second tower...... and, he moved to Houston after not being to handle living in NYC anymore.
So, I know there is an emotional toll.
