Spoke about how he will have DrewB make his read from the bottom up instead of the top down to keep him from holding the ball too long.

Said he can make the offense or defense look as good or as bad as he wants in practice. He has complete control. What the spectator sees is not always what it is.

Worked on goal line, 3rd and 1, red zone, and getting from under the goal line offense today. Said was a chance to give receivers a rest. (We all know that receivers ARE used in goal line offense but BP is running the show.)

Teams don't focus on running the ball in the red zone like in the good old days.

Said he's not gonna reveal how he's going to use certain players because you don't want that type of info out in the public. That's why he keeps practice closed.

Just a teaser.

It sounds funny but I have seen this done while playing in college. Coach walks into the defensive huddle and tells us what play is about to be ran in large part to see how the offense reacts and if they could overcome it. Would do the same with the offense telling them what we were going to be running on a particular play for the same reasons. Then of course he would b!tch us out. LOL

Ok, I will expand some more, or add one more.

(JFE question, Jennifer Floyg Engel btw) Did you decide who is going to be no 2 Monday ? Since Tony is working with No 2 all this week does that mean that he is going to be No 2? ( I am kind of combining two questions).

No, much to your consternation , it doesn't mean much at all. There is not really a 2nd and 3rd team anymore, because lack of OL personnel to have seperate teams.
Still is not decided as to who will be No 2 Monday ( my interpretation, probably Romo, cause it seems like that Quincy/Chad thing again, but I could be wrong).

I got called into a meeting with a client, so I only got about half of it.

I think Carson is just going to play 1 a days, because his knees are bothering him. Just to manage him a little bit. I don’t think anybody else will be ready today.

Concerned yesterday about Bledsoe’s injury?
I really wasn’t. I would have known about it before hand if it was something serious. He would have said something to me. There’s nothing wrong with him.

Battle for the #3 WR?
It’s a pretty good battle right now, and Crayton might have a little edge right now.

Tony Romo has been with the #2 team all week.
Doesn’t mean anything. They’re all getting the same reps. I’ve only got two lines now. I don’t know who Im going to send in after Bledsoe on Monday.

Does HC compared to DC. Offense vs. Defense, how do you evaluate the team as a whole?
When you come to camp, you try to create your vision for opening day. In each phase of the team, there are things and sequence to follow. If you come into my office, you would see on my board a checklist of numerous things. One board is nothing but situations I want to cover. 4th and 1. Fair catch and safety before the half. Last 5 plays of the game. Etc. Once I work on them, I check them off. I go through the checklist and within each offensive and defensive structure, you don’t put in everything at once. You practice one coverage at a time. Pretty soon, it becomes “what haven’t we worked enough on?” “What looks inefficient?” So, if you watched this morning, it just looks like football practice, but we were working on our short yardage offense. Well, that’s a rest day for my WR’s. Now I’ve been beating on them pretty good for the entire camp. So this afternoon will be a mental day. Thursday and Friday will be hard work days before I start looking at Seattle. So to answer your question, its trying ot cover the whole spectrum of things until you think your team is comfortable. The other night I got with the offensive coaches and said this red zone stuff needs work. Just principles. Its not just running plays, its trying to cover the things we think need to be covered that put the emphasis on certain areas. I don’t know if I answered your question or not. So you want to know what I think if our offense has a good practice, well I can make my offense have a good practice I want to any time I want. I can create chaos on my offense any time they want just so I can chew their butts. So what you’re seeing out there may not be what’s really happening.

TE Depth.
I think we got pretty good depth. I think Ryan will be out there pretty soon. It’s a pretty good situation. I think he’ll be able to play in San Diego.

Fowler goalline FB?
He’s definitely an option there. We don’t need to let people know that kind of stuff, really. That’s why I closed practice.

Bledsoe getting more out of him?
I don’t concern myself with stuff like that. I just want him to play efficiently. THoguht he did a pretty good job of that when he had the pieces around him. That’s not an easy place to play QB. I hope we can get enough guys around him.

What made you choose Drew in the offseason?
Your options are limited, and I had product knowledge. I knew him and I’ve always liked him. We’ll see. Just trying ot put together the best team we have.

Has red zone offense changed?
When I came in theleague you couldn’t find a zone defense in the red zone. Now that’s all you got. They try to hold you to three by making you dink and dunk it. I know some teams don’t philosophically believe in pound it out football, that’s okay.

Burnett challenge Singleton?
I’m sure Burnett will play a lot, whether he’s a starter or not. I’lll find something for him to do. He’s versatile. You have to watch these young players. We were playing him starting nickel and I took him off that. Because I’m going to overload him pretty soon. I’m going to give it to Shanle, and let Burnett work himself in slowly. I’ve ruined a couple of good players doing that.

The concern I have at OLB is experience, we have none but Singleton. And nicked up players. Thornton is tough guy, but he’s nicked up. Love is nicked up. Ware is completely lost. Burnett has 6 jobs he’s trying to process. If I move somebody, I would probably move Bradie James, but I don’t think I’m going to do that. Size wise, I think he has the best chance to do it. I’m not ready to do that yet.

Center position.
Gurode is doing a pretty good job. They’re pretty even right now. Johnson’s physical configuration is set, he won’t get any bigger. He works hard at his job. He’s just one of those guys. I could rotate those guys, no doubt.

Bledsoe holding the ball a concern at NE?
He doesn’t want to do that. He just doesn’t want to give up on the play. I’m trying to get him to get rid of the ball quickly, and I’m on him hard about that. When he was at NE I had to get on him about just indiscriminately flinging the ball everywhere.

Despite labeling myself a "realist", no one understands my pain or appreciates my special truth. Stupid world.

Thanks Roshi. You know you're loved when not one but two threads are asking where the PC recap is.

Says Ryan will be ready for San Diego. Wonder if he just tipped us off on the TEs on the roster?

Thanks, IR. Those are always appreciated. I also listened and did a recap although my summation skills pale in comparision. I will post from what you didn't get. Also found it interesting that the reporter asked about moving Shanle back outside and BP countered by saying he would move James first.

Roy Williams a good tackler?
Very good, one of the best in the league. Powerful, explosive, knows how to bring his hips. I think he can be and has been a dynamic player. Going to get him more in the mix, don’t have to protect corners a much.

Horsecollar question.
That’s a rule that everyone has to be cognizant of.

Ware was lost. Is that a concern?
What do you expect? Position transition.

More pressure being a #1?
Nothing to do with it in my mind. Just coach him to get better.

Every consider a backup more valuable as a back up than starting?
Absolutely. Definitely. (Reporter mentioned Vollers and Parcells agreed). BP reminisced about the glory days and some guy that used to play for him.

Tyson Thompson, how does he learn?
Irrelevant. I know it and the coaches know it. Not just him, but every player.

RT. Do you to try to project Pettiti?
Yes, where will he be in 6 weeks? Have to do that. Some coaches don’t do that and the media doesn’t do that at all. Mentioned comparing younger and older player. Older player might be better now, but younger guy might be better in 6 weeks, have to evaluate that.

And to you Junk. An excellent example of what BP was talking about. Always important to have good back ups. Never know when you might have to step in.

Thanks again.

Also said a guy is on the roster who use to play for him in NY. He said these young guys remember everything. The guy said, "you know what you said to me when I was a rookie, you said, I don't need no peanut RBs, I need some special team guys". Back up guys are important. Learned that from baseball guys.

(I was happy and amazed that another "Parcells guy" is on the roster that the media isn't inserting in every other paragraph in their Cowboys articles.)
