Default Darren Woodson plays fact or fiction

in case you missed it yesterday, Monday, July 12, on ESPN.

1. Fact or Fiction: Vinnie Testeverde will beat out Quincy Carter for the starting QB job.

"Oh, that's Fiction...Quincy carried this team last year with no running game. He's our QB."

2. Parcells is a tougher coach than Jimmy JOhnson.

"Fact...Johnson had a saying that he didn't treat every player the same. Darren Woodson didn't get treated the way Troy Aikman or another star was treated...Parcells doesn't care who you are....he just wants to win.

3. KJ will complain about his role in the offense.

"Fact...but that's good...you want guys who want the ball the way Michael Irvin did."

Granted, Woodson is not the coach of the Cowboys, but his comments on Carter as the QB, not even a general comment about it will be a great competition, certainly indicate that the players are behind Carter and don't expect any competition from anyone this season.

I was surprised they didn't ask any Fact or Fiction question regarding AB.

The real question should have been, will Drew Henson be the Cowboys starter before you retire. FACT

It was just on again this morning, so I'm sure it's running every 1/2 hour right now...but it will change tonight when they talk to Brentson buckner about the Panthers, according to ESPN.

Thanks Wayne, so it's a Sportscenter segment? That Cold Pizza travesty?

Not a separate show?

I've been glued to the NFL NETWORK, and have lost touch with ESPN.

One more thing how funny would it be to piss off others if Woodson was asked fact or fiction Dallas wins the NFC East this year and Woodson says FACT

You forgot to mention these questions:

Fact or Fiction

The Redskins will make the playoffs

Woodson: Fiction, I think they barely miss out, it's gonna take a little time for them to gel. Plus, it's a tough division, the Dallas Cowboys are a good team (lol the first team he mentions), the Eagles are still strong, and Giants added Coughlin.

Bill Parcells is a racist and should be punished

Woodson: Fiction (I forgot his analysis).

Willie Blade craps his pants everyday

Woodson: Fact, the guy needs diapers.

The response from both Woody and Salisbury (who almost redeemed himself there, he was so right on) was that "Bill Parcells doesnt' have a racial bone in his body, one of the reasons he is so loved by his players". Woody humorously interjected that Bill doesn't merit a punishment from the NFL, but that "maybe his players should punish him because Tuna is always warning THEM to be careful what they say." Good one, Woody.

I think the format should be the PLAYER or interviewee responding first, not the sports reporter. Let the interviewee call it fact or fiction. Darren and Salisbury clearly agreed on everything w/o hesitation, but let the player make the call.

Darren is a natural for TV journalism. Geez, what a guy.

Yeah Woodson was very clear with his words too, it sounded like he's been practicing... he didn't stutter or mumble or nothin...

He's also not afraid to voice his opinion, he gave straight forward answers...

Unless QC or VT gets hurt, then this ain't happening. OR...

...both those QB's mentioned above are completely horrible in 2004 AND the Cowboys are out of the playoff race late in the year. Then yeah, he may get a start.

I find it interesting, and quite funny actually, that so many are chalking up Henson as the next great QB in Cowboys history. Photoshopping pics of him with Aikman and Staubach and things such as that. When the truth is no one--not the Cowboys or the fans--know what Henson will be. He has talent and skill, but to make a prediction that he will be great, or terrible for that matter, is nonsense.

The reality is that he gives the Cowboys another option at finding a franchise caliber QB without doing something drastic or giving up a high first round pick. AND he will have to beat QC out to win the job. He is not going to be handed the job just because he's Drew Henson. His draft position (a 3rd) and his salary does not dictate he play (ala Palmer in Cincy, et al). And if he can't beat out QC, then that means Quincy has elevated his game to a very high level. Would that be a bad thing?

I think (no, I know) that there are some Cowboys "fans"--and I use that term loosely in this case--that silently pull against Carter and hope the Cowboys struggle with him as the signal-caller due to their intense hatred for him. That is laughable, and quite sad actually.

This whole situation is nothing but good for the Cowboys. Competition makes all involved better.

I couldn't care less who ends up behind the center in 2004 or 2006--QC or Henson. As long as we find a QB that plays at the high level that we are used to seeing in Dallas.

He did a few NFLE games this year as the color analyst.

Even in unrehearsed situations, he is very clear.

This thing on ESPN was a timed segment, and he had to rush his answers, which normally leads to some stumbling.

But he did very well.

I will be very surprised if there is not a bidding war from the networks for his services the minute he retires.
