Tuesday's supplemental draft...
I found a website that listed the players available, and did a little research... here's a rundown of those players, listed in the order of my personal preference (IOW, the first player I discuss is the one I like the most):
Chris Chatman, WR/PR, Midwestern State... 6-6, 210 pounds... no 40 time available...
Chatman apparently sat our last season, I have no idea why... but I love that size, and the fact that he returns punts... this suggests that he has at least decent hands, and some elusiveness that could translate into nice RAC yardage... he probably has at least mediocre speed...
Seante Williams, DE, Jacksonville State... 6-7, 250 pounds, 4.55 second 40...
Great height, exceptional speed for a big man... he seems a little undersized, but a full offseason in an NFL weight room is liable to leave him at 260-270 pounds...
Ike Emodi, OLB, East Carolina... 6-4, 230 pounds, 4.75 second 40...
This is the guy generally mentioned first when the experts talk about this supplemental draft... his 40 time is marginal, but I wonder if it's accurate, since he's listed as an OLB/SS... he obviously wouldn't be a prospect at SS if he runs that kind of 40 time...
Chad Mascoe, MLB, Central Florida... 6-3, 255 pounds, 4.85 second 40...
Great size, questionable speed... would strictly be a first and second down LB in the NFL, he'd be too big a liability in pass coverage...
James Allen, S, BYU... 5-10, 170 pounds, 4.4 second 40...
He's WAY too small to play safety in the NFL, but his sub-4.4 second 40 times might indicate he could handle a move to CB...
Reynaldo Brathwaite, RB, BYU... 5-10, 170 pounds, no 40 time available...
Again, he's awfully small for the NFL, but if he's super quick, he might be worth a look... he did average 5.6 yards per carry last year, including a 95 yard TD run, which suggests he has some speed...
Mataio Toilolo, OG, Montana State... 6-5, 286 pounds, no 40 time available...
He was one of the better blockers in his conference, and reportedly is pretty fast for a guard, but he's gonna have to get bigger to make it in the NFL... however, with his other skills, some NFL club may take a flyer on him, and put him on the practice squad so that he can hit the weight room with a vengeance...
None of these players is likely to be worth much more than a 5th or 6th round pick, but I could justify the Boys spending a late rounder on either WR Chatman or DE Williams...
Smarter than the av-er-age bear...

These guys are as useful as Hos would be in a snow storm. I can't justify spending anything on any of them. Let them slip through as UFA's and then sign them. Don't blow a 2005 draft pick.

Thanks for the info and research, SB.
Can you refresh my memory on how the supdraft works? Is it lottery/weighted bids?

It's my understanding that teams draft in the same order as in the draft held in April.
BTW... Good afternoon Barb.

I think that picture should be banned. My wife just caught a quick peak and thought I wasn't in a Cowboy forum anymore.
This is a team who is battling several major injuries to
key players including Pro Bowl talents like Lee, Austin, Jenkins, Murray,
Carter and Ratliff. Other key starters missing include Costa, Smith, Church and
Coleman. That is 11 key players - that's half the starting lineup. Yet we still went 8-8.
