Nope, he made his career in San Diego, but I never knew he played for Dallas, and caught a SB TD no less.

Cue "Man lands on moon" posts

"He finished his career with the Dallas Cowboys of the NFL in 1970 and 1971. When Alworth retired, he held records for the most consecutive games with a reception, 96, and the most games with 200 or more yards on receptions, 5. Both records have since been broken, but Alworth is still the only receiver to average more than 100 yards a game in 3 consecutive seasons, 1964 through 1966."

From what I've heard, he was one of the great NFL players, not just in skill but in class.

Yes. He joined the team when Landry began to change the face of the team to include more vets....ultimately, the balance between youth and vets lead to the first super bowl victory.

Alworth was nicknamed "Bambi" because of his leaping abilities. He might have been the best WR I've ever seen.

If you want to catch up on Cowboy history, this site has every season's stats. Great site...

Yep, 71 and 72. Probably the best team the Cowboys ever had IMO.

Also one of our posters here has a great site as well. I think it's Mike Greens site. I lost the bookmark though. I'll try to find it.

Bambi was the 2nd of 18 different Cowboys to score a TD in the Super Bowl.

1. Duane Thomas (2)
2. Lance Alworth
3. Mike Ditka
4. Drew Pearson
5. Percy Howard
6. Tony Dorsett
7. Butch Johnson (2)
8. Golden Richards
9. Tony Hill
10. Mike Hegman
11. Jackie >>>> oops, he dropped it
11. Billy Joe Dupree
12. Jay Novachek (2)
13. Jimmie Jones
14. Michael Irvin (2)
15. Alvin Harper
16. Emmitt Smith (5)
17. Ken Norton
18. James Washington

Now tell me, how many teams even come close to this list?

Harold Carmichael, the longtime Eagle, also played for Dallas.
