The rift between the Redskins and linebacker LaVar Arrington will run into the regular season. Arrington has accused the club of removing a $6.5 million roster bonus from the contract extension he signed last December. NFL Players Association general counsel Richard Berthelsen told the Washington Times that the team is attempting to schedule an arbitration hearing for November 2. The two sides had originally targeted an August date in an attempt to clear up the dispute prior to the season.

The worry is that Arrington will use this dispute as a reason to hold out or otherwise stir up trouble between the team and him.
