Default Mods: Can we please enforce your own guidelines

With the start of TC, and the inevitable onslaught on Cowboys-based threads, any chance you mods can/will start enforcing the this forum guideline...??

No offense meant, but it's getting tiring wading past threads concerning who did, said or wrote whatever concerning teams that aren't even in our conference, much less our division when there's a board for this purpose.

And yes, before anyone says anything, some of the same people I'm addressing here need to police themselves.

Thanks in advance,

Normally I would have asked you to PM one of the mods about this...however I think it is a good thing for everyone to see.

To help police themselves in putting some types of posts on the main forum.

However I think other mods and I do not mind if someone posts that a player from another team have been waived....as depending on the player, the cowboys or fans may be interested in that player.

But We do move stuff when we catch it or feel it needs moved....including topics about an old football movie being remade (ahem reality ).

We willl try to keep it ship shape...however I do wish some would remember to just post the topics in the right sections....like posts about GAMES (aka Nintendo, PS2, X-Box) in the off topic section.

instead of making a post like this, wouldnt the easier thing to do be simply NOT READ what your NOT INTERESTED in?

It's not just those posts though Brain, it's those plus all the articles written by every spare-to-fair sportswriter this time of year analyzing every team to death coupled with signings/releases around the league that concern Dallas nun.

If this is the position of the powers that be here, then do away with the NFL board.

As BP said, we do move off-topic posts to the other forums when we feel it is not Cowboys related. This also includes poor attempts at keeping off-topic threads in the main forum by adding a small Cowboys-related comment at the bottom of the post. If most of it is off-topic, it will be moved.

That being said, BP is right in that sometimes released players or news affecting other teams is relevant and important to Cowboys' fans as well. For example, Rickey Williams being released was a major NFL news story and while not directly related to the Cowboys, is something that many (I know, not all, but many) Cowboys' fans are interested in reading and discussing, especially during the off-season which is still currently going on until training camp starts.

You will notice that when training camp starts (off-season ends) the amount of new threads each day will greatly increase and as a result, the moderators will scrutinize threads a little more than we do during the off-season. The main reason for the change is that good threads will drop off the front page too quickly during high post periods such as training camp, game days, draft day, etc.

All of that being said, understand that no matter how much of a Cowboys' fan a user is, they will not be interested in every Cowboys-related thread. There are some threads I don't even read myself. There are also threads that are opinionated and are promoting a side that you, yourself, may totally disagree with such as the "we love/hate Quincy" threads. Everyone is entitled to post their own opinions. I used to endlessly defend Emmitt Smith when he was with the Cowboys when many times I was the lone voice on my side of the fence. However, even as the owner of this site, I'd never delete or move threads from people who disagree with my fan-based opinions.

If we all agreed about everything, then this site would just be a Cowboys' news site and that's it .. and who wants that?

Make sure to notice that part that I put in bold.

Some things as reality has stated my be left on the board as general interest.

It is not uncommon to see information about the dreaded enemies of the NFC East on the main forum as the information could be relevant to the cowboys fans.

HAHA that gave me a good laugh...thanks I needed that today.

Oh by the way if that happens you may hear a story about a large man running up and down the road scooping up sardines off the road like a bulldozer pushing dirt.

Default Can we get a new forum...

For people who want to complain about how the forums are moderated? Maybe smack-talk or off topic? I like to come to this forum to read about the Dallas Cowboys, and not necessarily about other posters' browsing preferences. I'm happy skipping the stuff I don't want to read--it's not like there are all that many posts right now.

Generally speaking, in my experience, off-season posts however tangentially related to the Cowboys tend to be like Ritz crackers to a starving man. And when there's real meat, nobody cares about a dang cracker anymore. When TC starts, the other posts will stop on their own.

But for the record, I, for one, appreciate all you crackers.
When asked whether Jason Garrett is the right head coach for this team: "I don't think there is anyone else that could. I think he is an unbelievable coach. We've responded to him and he has made us better football players, better people. If you watch us I think we play with a certain relentless spirit." --Sean Lee

Then the NFL board is pointless.

Mildly amusing that you would turn or construe what I posted into a QC thread.

But apparently, posting about the misfortunes of rookie Redskins is forbidden?
