Default You can now record Dallas Cowboys to HD DVD!

Did you know that Panasonic has a new HD DVD recorder that burns 4 hours of HD programming to a DVD? It's a blue-ray disc, and runs in the ballpark of 2700 dollars. I have no idea how I'm going to swing it, but I'd love to get one of those!!

Has anyone else heard about this?

I'll wait a couple of years when they're about $100.

Also be weary of what it can do... I almost bought a HD DVR the other day, but then found out that it was not compatable with DirecTV.

I don't think there's an HD DVR incompatible with DirectTv, it could be incompatible with TiVo maybe. I'm quite sure that every DVR is compatible with Direct TV, no matter what system you have. Tell me more about this incompatibility.

Direct TV is now advertising a HD DVR. I'm a Direct TV subscriber so I can get NFL Sunday Ticket and just got an e-mail from them advertising the HD DVR. It has a 250 gig hard drive that will record like 30 hours of HD programming or 200 hours of regular programming.

There is a DirecTV-Tivo DVR for HD but it is currently $1000. As much as I'd like to get it, I can't justify that. For $1000 I could do much more with my home theater room.

I have seriously considered that option as well. However, you can only keep so many games with 30 hours. I'd like to keep my files on an HD DVD. It's tempting, but I want to hold out for the real deal.
