Concerned about Campbell
Is anyone else concerned about the reports of Campbell having knee problems...
The TE situation in big D is one of our strongest positions, if Campbell goes down with knee issues this may open a big hole as far as a blocking TE goes.
Campbell is one of my favorite players on this team...I'm hoping this is simply a strain or something he can work through.
Does anyone have any concrete info on him and what really going on?

Well, Campbell said it was one of those freak things that happened on those 2 days. And he seemed to get up immediately.
I think if it becomes more serious the staff will rest him. I'm sure they wouldn't take a significant risk at this stage.

Portland Fanatic, at this point, they don't seem too concerned about his knee. However, if he continues to have problems with it, then our effective level of blocking at the TE position will take a serious hit IMO. Let's hope that whatever is causing it doesn't get any worse.

It was also mentioned in one of the articles that if he does need his knee scoped they thought of doing it in the bi-week in order for him to have time to heal up.

If Witten wasn't coming along as well as he has then I would be a little more concerned.
Basically this affects our Two-TE, Goaline and short yardage situations where we would be going with both Witten and Campbell for blocking purposes.
But our 3-wide formation is going to kill with Key, Glenn, Bryant, Witten and Julius/Eddie out there.
(goosebumps)

I'm certainly less worried about an injury to the team's deepest position than I am to WR, CB, FS, or C. Campbell is nice to have on the roster, but he can be replaced.
Try replacing Terrance Newman at this point.

Parcells also seems to be pleased with Sean Ryan, who is virtually the same size as Campbell & reportedly a good blocker. While it would suck to lose Campbell, it may not be devestating, depending on Ryan's progress.
"The ball ain't heavy."
-Herschel Walker, when asked if he got tired carrying the ball 30 times per game.

Wouldn't the prudent thing be to do it now?
To use Tuna's favorite line, " I know what Campbell can do, I'm not worried about that."
Use this time to get Witten stronger in the running game and to really see what we have with Ryan and Trusty. Most importantly, use it to get Campbell ready for when the games matter.
