Tim Brown to Dallas?
Heard on the drive home tonight that Tim Brown is meeting with Al Davis tonight and will ask for his release so he can join the Cowboys. I guess he is not happy about being buried on the depth chart in Oakland. Why does he think he would get more playing time here though? I do not see him beating out AB or Glenn for a starting spot.

Unfortunately,
As much as I like Tim Brown, I don't think he will be coming here, I have been following his career since he was at ND as I'm a big Irish fan, but he is 38 and past his prime. That being said, if any of our receivers after TG, AB and KJ don't impress the coaches, I wouldn't mind seeing him for this year for the vet minimum.

Nooooooooooooooooo
This is a team who is battling several major injuries to
key players including Pro Bowl talents like Lee, Austin, Jenkins, Murray,
Carter and Ratliff. Other key starters missing include Costa, Smith, Church and
Coleman. That is 11 key players - that's half the starting lineup. Yet we still went 8-8.

Really? How's that? Because they sign some older aging players? Better than signing TO "where are my tights" crybaby.

I wish I was but no I'm not. However this was on my local a.m sports talk show so who knows how firm this rumor is. The news outlet that the DJ gave was the Sacramento Bee.

Wiley, Glenn, Johnson, Brown?, George, Testaverde...Yup...
Personally, I would rather have one of the best receivers in the game, your choice though.

Well it won't bother me if we turn into the "Raiders"
That team made it to the superbowl not too long ago with all those old players, did they not?
And it wouldn't even be the same situation, they had several old aging players, us on the other hand just have some... We still have a lot of young and middle-aged players..
I would be all for signing Brown, he'd be a very solid 4th WR. He doesn't have the quickness or speed he once had, but he still has hands and a high football IQ. He'll make tough catches over the middle and even though he's slow he still finds ways to get open.

You obviously did not see any Raider games last year.

i like the guy's experience. but his odometer has turned over. does the NFL permit consecutive ONE-WEEK CONTRACTS?

Pass on Brown. 4th and 5th receivers need to be special teamers. Brown isn't.

Actually I saw a couple.. but of course you probably have a season pass to Raiders games
His stats weren't awful last season, 52 catches, over 500 yards and eight 20+ yard receptions...
And he'd be our 4TH WR, he wouldn't be coming in here to start. I'd gladly take him in.
A lot of you guys are gonna treat this a lot like the Eddie George situation. You're going to say how old he is and how he isn't the same anymore and how he's washed up... and then when he signs with us, then everything changes.
