He is a go to guy for ESPN already and gets juicy interviews and tons of coverage. Reporters have no reason to get on his bad side because he has real value to them now as he did when he played.
No matter the off field stuff the guy is still likable.
You see his face every week and hear his voice even more often than that.
No one is forgetting Michael Irvin come next year. He honesty probably would have been a 1st ballot guy had folks not wanted to put him in with Troy then he faced a tough, tough class. Irvin has always been a star among stars and he'll be in easily next year provided he stays on the up and up.

If he got in this year, it would have been his second shot, not 1st ballot.
Butt I actually had more of a porblem with him not getting in in year one than this year. In his first year of eligibility, there were six finalists, an donly four were accepted. This year was pretty tough.
I have a pretty good feeiling about next year also though.
Nice to see it being acknowledged (even in a roundabout way).
