Nobody is questioning Emmitts heart and greatness...throw all the rings and stats out..Sanders is a better runningback...to say Sanders has no heart is stupid...

Someone who is forgotten.....
Gale Sayers, watch tapes of him running!
Jim Brown, he would break your face mask he ran so hard.
Everyone always says Emmitt, Barry, Walter
nobody says Jim, and Gale Or O.J, or Tony D.

No disrespect to Emmitt for he was a great RB, but Barry Sanders retired too early and was clearly the best RB the NFL ever had

Why is that surprising?
This is a guy who would take Randall Cunningham any day over Troy Aikman!

O.J. Simpson deserves no respect from any football fan on the planet, if for no other reason than he is a scumbag's scumbag

Barry Sanders is not even in the top 5 best RBs
How anyone can consider him there is strange to me.
His own coach pulled him out in short situations and red zone situations because he was a liablility
If the coach of his team didnt think he was good enough to put the game in his hands its ludicrous to consider him top 5.
He had a nice highlight tape but he was not the best RB by far

Barry Sanders was very flashy. Pure entertainment. There is a very real reason why he never won squat and why the Lions got better after he left.
Stretch your imagination for a minute HH and pretend you know something about football for a change. 1st down Sanders gets the ball and loses 3 yards dancing around. Lions in 2nd and 13. You're the Defensive Coordinator, do you like this situation? Trust me, they love it. Chances are good, the blitz is coming. If you run with a tentative runner against a blitz, what happens? If you said tackle for a loss is a distinct possibility you'd earn a gold star.
[View Full Quote]Sanders for all his greatness, (and he was great, make no mistake about that) he left his team 2nd and long or 3rd and long A LOT!!! That is why the Lions couldn't win when it mattered most. That is why he was taken out on goal line situations so often by every Head Coach he ever had.
If you look at almost any game in Sanders career and take away his longest run of the game, he averaged less than 3 yards per carry in most of them.
You want that on your team you can have it. I wouldn't want him. I can easily name a dozen RBs I'd rather have on my team than Barry Sanders. RB is about heart. He lacked the kind of heart I admire.
I do not know which RB I would call the greatest of all time. Sometimes I say Emmitt because he holds every meaningful record. Sometimes I say Walter Payton because he was easily the most versatile RB ever. Sometimes I say Eric Dickerson if he had stayed in Los Angeles behind that OL. Sometimes I say Bo Jackson or Gale Sayers who got injured way too early in their careers. Sometimes I say Earl Campbell because he was simply the most destructive force ever. Sometimes I say Jim Brown because quite frankly he was the best ever. In today's 16 game schedule behind the OLs teams put out there he would be over 2000 yards and 20 TDs every season. He was that good.
The most exciting? No one is even close, Barry Sanders. Hands down. No debate from me.
The greatest? He's not even in the discussion as far as I am concerned and nothing will change my mind.

I'm sorry, but you dont run for 2,000 yards in a season with no heart
You dont run for 15,000 yards in 10 years without heart
You dont score over 90 TDs with no heart
Was he as hard a runner as Emmitt? No. Did he have as much heart? No. But to say he didnt have heart as you are looking at what he did with NO help is questionable at best and lunacy at worst.
One could also argue that it was BECAUSE his team was so pitiful that he felt he had to score by himself every play. Look at what he did at Okie Lite with a decent amoutn of talent (for a college team). He set unGody rushign records that will never be matched, and he rarely got tackled for loss because his O-Line was worth a damn.

Don't forget this guy either!
If the human body was capable of taking that kind of abuse year in and year out, he'd be 20,000 yards easy!

Quick question HH.
How do you think Sanders would have done compared to Emmitt if the were running the Broncos Zone blocking scheme ?

Not well
Now, a question for you: Do you honestly believe that if Barry Sanders was running behind the 1993 Cowboys O-Line, he wouldnt have put up astronomical numbers? Just remember what he did in 12 games at Okie Lite: 39 TDs
