Default If the Cowboys really want a WR in the first

Why not just trade the pick to GB for Javon Walker and GB's 4th rounder?

Personally, I would still prefer an OLB.

I agree why first round WRs have been a crap shoot at best, I would rather gamble on Walker recovering. I dont see Dallas taking a WR in the first though.

If it were me, I'd try to trade down, aquire extra picks, trade Ellis and a third for Walker. IMO, that would be a pretty good deal for both teams. JMO.

If he is 100 percent healthy.....then it makes sence....but, guess he wants a huge contract.....more then the #18 would require.

If his knee checks out, he's well worth it.

QB - Bledsoe
RB - Jones
WR - Walker
WR - Glenn
SR - Owens
TE - Witten
LT - Adams
LG - Kosier/Rivera
C- Mangold
RG - Joseph
RT - Fabini

That offense would be awsome. I don't know how you'd stop it, to be honest with you.

He is NOT worth the 18th pick. TO only got a 2nd rd value, as well as Culpepper, and many rbs in previous years. Hi value is closer to a 2nd round pick and I would be happy to deliver that in exchange for a 4th or 5th round pick due to injury concerns.

Walker wants a monster contract. I wouldn't trade squat for him.

If the BPA is a WR ... it's done.

If you put Glenn and Walker wide, there speed would force safety coverage on both sides of the field. TO would get a match up with the weakest coverage safety on most teams and would have the room to catch balls and gain serious YAC. Basically, it would be impossible to cover him, IMO. You could try to use a Cover2 but that wouldn't work either. The weakness of a Cover2 is the seem or deep post routes. With Owens and Witten working the middle of the field, that would force the safeties to cheat the middle and the home run ball to Glenn or Walker would be there. Yeah, I would do it just that way.

Well I think we all know how they'd at least try. The only 'sure thing' on that OL is Adams. Teams would, and will, try to find/create a weakness on that OL and bring the heat on both an immobile Bledsoe and Julius in the backfield.

Irregardless of whether we get Walker, Mangold or Joseph that is exactly what teams will do against us in 2006. It worked REALLY well in 2005. Let's hope that our revamped line is up to the task. More than any single factor I believe it will make or break 2006.

With that said - yeah, I hope we add some OL talent in this draft. We need some margin for error on the many OL holes we're trying to plug.

There is noway the Cowboys are taking a WR in the 1st round.

Weak WR value in this draft + no pressing need + deep value at a pressing need ( LB ), + a braintrust who is reluctant to go WR that early makes it highly, highly unlikely we go that direction.

There will be multiple options at LB,DB, or possibly even OL that will make more sense at our pick.

If we drafted OLs, I would expect the OL to look something like this.

Adams LT
Kosier LG
Johnson/Gurode C
Rivera RG
Fabine/Columbo (depending on how he's come along)

However, by mid season, I would expect both Jospeh and Mangold to be challenging for a starting position. If your basing value off of players that can have the most impact immediatly, then these two are probably them, respective of our draft positions. I think that both of these guys can be starters soon in there NFL careers. If Columbo progresses, he could eventually be a LT and Adams could be moved to RT which would be ideal IMO. We would have depth at every position along the line and be strong up front, which is how you win games in the NFL. I would like a draft like that very much.

We're don't. Thank God.

This is a team who is battling several major injuries to
key players including Pro Bowl talents like Lee, Austin, Jenkins, Murray,
Carter and Ratliff. Other key starters missing include Costa, Smith, Church and
Coleman. That is 11 key players - that's half the starting lineup. Yet we still went 8-8.
