Chad Greenway
Chad seems to be dropping and might be available at #18. Does anyone know anything about Greenway and how he compares to the big 3?

Hadn't figured him onto the equation, but he is a good choice if still available. Carpenter or Greenway would fill the need nicely. A real LB to play the strong side!

He's probably the second best OLB in the draft and has the size and athleticism to play in either scheme. If he somehow falls to 18 he's a no brainer.

That's the impressoin I have from reading up on the linebackers in this draft. But if it's such a no brainer, regardless of the scheme, why is there so much skepticism about him on this board?

he doesn't take on blocks, and doesn't rush the passer very well

I wish I knew because I continue to see Greenway showing up ahead of both Lawson and Carperter on many different boards. Myself based on watching Greenway I have to say I like what I saw. How he would do in the 3-4 is anyone guess but then the same could be said about the other prospect that are out there.

Think Derrick Johnson from a year ago. Very similar playing style. If the Cowboys never considered taking Johnson, the wont take Greenway.

I always appreciate the insights you bring to these questions, so let me press you a little further.
Derrick Johnson had a pretty good rookie year, right, with 90 some odd tackles, a few sacks, a couple of forced fumbles, and some passes defended? Why would we not want that?
As for Greenway's inability to shed blocks or rush the passer, Gil Brandt and the guy who does the player profiles at NFL.com (granted, there are many here who think he's a mediot) say that Greenway is an "excellent" blitzer who is effective rushing the passer and can shed blocks effectively although he is inconsistent in doing so at times. Are they wrong or missing something? And compared to the limilitations or shortcomings of the other prospects how does this player stack up given his past production and future potential?
Thanks.

Yeah but what does Gil Brandt know. He was only doing this job before most around here were born.

I have raised the Greenway question several times myself, not sure it matters though because he will be the second LB taken and will not be there for us.

He is a sideline to sideline player. Good for a 4-3, not so good for a 3-4. He also plays smaller than his size would indicate, and was outperformed by Abdul Hodge.
