Whither Jason Witten
Does anyone else think the drafting of the TE in the 2nd round mean we're less likely to re-sign Jason Witten? He will demand big money, and this TE we drafted seems like a Witten clone.
Thoughts?

Why would you not re-sign a Pro-bowl TE for somone not proven? Unless Fasano makes it to Pro-bowl his rookie season that is, which I think is close to impossible with Witten here.

No. Fasano will COMPLIMENT Witten (probably as H-back as well). Remeber we don't use FB much anymore...TE makes sense, especially if you can get one that blocks AND catches pretty well.

Jerry said this selection makes Witten "more important" to our team, since we're now implmementing an offense with two starting tight ends.
Nothing to see here.

Your kidding......right?
This is a team who is battling several major injuries to
key players including Pro Bowl talents like Lee, Austin, Jenkins, Murray,
Carter and Ratliff. Other key starters missing include Costa, Smith, Church and
Coleman. That is 11 key players - that's half the starting lineup. Yet we still went 8-8.

Think about it last year we sort of telegraphed our plays when we would bring campbell in on running plays so he could block and witten could go in motion. Now we can bring in Fasano and motion him or witten and pass the ball. He helps give the offense an advantage when it comes to the defense, the defense now has to read and react to tthe play and not the personnel
