Default Tennessean.com - Titans don't want Carter

Incase you care to know...

Fisher: Titans don't want Carter:
The Titans are not interested in signing former Cowboys quarterback Quincy Carter, despite a report last night that said otherwise.

ESPN's Chris Mortensen reported the Titans have an interest in Carter for the No. 3 spot behind Steve McNair and Billy Volek. Jason Gesser and Robert Kent are competing for the No. 3 spot.

''We have no interest,'' Titans Coach Jeff Fisher said. ''We've got a lot of time and we've made a commitment to both of these two players to see how they work out throughout the preseason.''

Well Carter I guess you don't have to go to camp, sit back and fire one up!

Kind of like Campo and Gailey...once they were out of here, no one wanted them for a head coach. Now, no one wants Carter as a QB. What does that say about Jerry Jones' ability to evaluate football talent?

Carter could always join Ricky Williams and go on tour with Lenny Kravitz, as Lenny's personal roach clip. LOL

He hired Parcells, didn't he?

He hired Jimmy Johnson and Bill Parcells. I'll take Jerry Jones over any of the other owners any day of the week.

Why many around the NFL laughed at Jones when he hired a college coach in Jimmy Johnson with comments like "There are no East Carolina's in the NFL" Not many college coaches who have tried to make the move to the NFL have had success yet despite some of the nah sayers Jerry still brought Jimmy in. Sorry I just feel too many love to bash Jerry at every turn and the fact is the years prior to Jones buying this team we were headed no wheres fast, Jerry Helped turn this franchise around and helped to make it a championship team. I will agree with you that Jerry has made his share of mistakes but please name 1 person in the NFL who has not made mistakes?

Jimmy Johnson was not exactly thought to be a sure thing when he was brought in....also with the idea of Landry not being part of the deal it did not make Jerry look like a genius at all.

Further more...the problem IMO was never JJ's evaluation of picking head coaches....it was JJs ego that he did not have to have a great coach.

I can not fault those who question JJs draft evaluation talent but that is different from him getting some coaches after Jimmy because IMO that was pure ego.

I think Jones is a fine owner. I think he is, at best, decidedly mediocre when it comes to judging talent on the sidelines and at quarterback, based on history. But I have no problem with his business skills.

I'm not surprised the Titans don't want anything to do with Quincy.

They have a guy backing up McNair that had some good games last year. Don't remember his name but he's better than QC!

As I said I don't deny that Jerry has made mistakes and even moves that have come through the scouting department and not just Jerry he has still taken the heat (it goes with the job, I understand that). I just think in the overall big picture that Jerry has done more to help this team than he has to hurt this team. I think there is a perception that Jerry makes all calls without the impute of others and I don't believe that is the case, over the years he has consulted with highly respected people in the league when coming to certain decisions which is pretty common by many others in the NFL.

Volek! Thanks.

He played pretty solid in the game or two I saw of them. I think he had to have some type of surgery in the offseason though that was not football related.

I'm having a brain fart here. Oh well.

But definitely it would be a downgrade to sign Q and demote him.
