Steven Jackson falling behind
They said on NFL Countdown that the word out of St. Louis is that SJ is falling behind the other backs and seems to ba approaching this year as if it's a reshirt year.
Things keep making the JJ choice look better and better each day.

I know I couldn't be more pleased with the selection of Julius Jones.

I will admit that I wasn't quite sure what was going on back on draft day when it was annouced that the Cowboys traded down. The only thing that kept me from putting my foot through the TV was the fact that I knew BParcells was up to something...well, that and the fact that TV's are expensive...
I am glad that "in Bill I trust"
That's why they play the game

I knew that trading down was a smart idea, because there were SO many holes to fill, however, it did take the excitement right out of draft day. However, they knew something I didn't, Julius Jones has something special. Steven Jackson may as well, but right now Julius looks like the better pick.

I think Jackson and KJones will both be fine backs and have good years, but JJ is playing with EG, while SJ is playing with Marshall Faulk...get serious.
JJ doesn't have to be better than those two guys...I don't even think BP actually thinks that...if he did, he wouldn't have tried like hell to get back into the bottom of round 1 for Kevin Jones. All JJ has to do is become a good RB who can start and carry the load for the Cowboys...that and wise use of that #1 pick will still be a win win situation for us even if Julius doesn't have the career that the other two do.

We all need to remeber something EG is not MF. The Rams are not gonna start jackson with MF healthy so jackson is probaly sayin why should i risk gettin hurt to play backup. I'm not sayin he's right but it makes some sense why exert himslef he knows how good he is take it slow get everything right

Personally... if I was Mike Martz... I want to see my rookie come in with a swagger and a drive to unseat the great Marshall Faulk...
When you sign a multi-million dollar contract, you exert yourself at all levels... just my .02...
Hey... I've been wrong before, I just can't remember when... I'm sure my ex-wife could tell you...

Reports say BP never liked SJ as a 1st rounder but did rate KJ the best RB in the class but only by a smidge over JJ and Tatum Bell which is why he didnt mind trading down in the first place. JJones confirmed many times Dallas felt 5 backs could come in and be long term starters for them.
RBs generally only have 4 or 5 year shelf lives so I am all for that move down. I think it would have been much harder to do had Vince Wilfolk been on the board still.
But I still don't know what any team saw Thursday night that would have made them comfortable with waiting a round or two for the offensive lineman they wanted. ---Todd McShay
We just converted half our LB to DL. We have a 30m starting DL, it better be pretty friggin good.

Didn't attend the volunteer camps, and they also mentioned that he isn't rehabing that knee like he's supposed to. Seems to me like he's not much of a hard worker, Parcells just knows how to pick em.

I think he got caught believeing the hype and thought he was a top 10 pick. He fell so far and lost millions in his mind. Then he went to a team with a top 5 RB. He is using this as a redshirt year assuming the team makes him a starter next year.
Thats says something negative about his professionalism and his competitive fire but I dont think we can write him off as a scrub just yet.
You always have to worry if those west coast guys wanna work or not. I like a nice high strung athlete who has a chip on his shoulder and is mad at the world. See Emmitt Smith

I think I may have posted something along these lines around draft time. SJ comes from an upper middle class family and has a degree. He knows he can do something that isn't as damaging to his body if the NFL doesn't work out for him.
You want a guy playing RB that doesn't have any other options. Or doesn't think he has other options, at least.

After watching Jackson tonight and Jones for the past 2 weeks it is obvious that Parcells knows what he is doing.
Jones just seems quicker and able to shake defenders off better than Jackson currently can.
