I hope we can finally put to rest...
the all too often used, Bill is building to win now.
Ever since he got here, he has been building for the future but all you hear is this HS about how he will not make moves because he is only building for a championship in the next few years.
Don't know how long BP will coach but can we at least agree that he is building for the future rather then adopting a win now strategy?

Yes, i love the fact this team is slowly getting better and younger at the same time. The fact that we're building for the future makes me believe BP really does care about the future of the team. I hope he can pull it off, and reward us with a ring or two .

Agreed! I think Bill will coach out his current contract and possibly another 2 years after that, at which point he will hang up the coach's hat having added another 3 Super Bowl wins to his collection.

That be nice (unrealistic IMO) but we'd have 8 rings to brag about It be nice to see MIKE on espn talking trash to all the other analysts. Oh well i won't hold my breath, but maybe we can get one before bill's done.

Parcells himself though has stated he is looking to win now. No doubt he is also keeping an eye on the future but I don't think he is looking at 2004 as some around here as a blow off year, I think Parcells expect this team to go out and compete and win games

he's definately building for the future, and as people see his coaching grabs us W's in the process (ie. 10 wins last year).

While this draft may sorely have tested people's patience, it was a watershed moment in the hitory of this franchise. We can see a plan that works and can be effective in the long term, something which is not easy to do with the "win nowor never" mentality of other teams. I still believe we got better with this draft and will be alot better after the next draft. This will come at a time when our NFCE rivals will be peaked out withtheir current personnel.

It looks as if we're building to compete in 2005 not 2004.
With the recent moves we made in the off season and in the draft don't be surprised if the Henson era make an early appearance.

Good morning PP, i agree totally, i hope we're thriving when the other teams in our division are "strapped".

I don't think BP is going to "blow off" this year either. But I also think he realizes this team, and with QC at the helm, can only go so far. I believe he feels like our best chance to win big is not this year but starting with 2005. Henson may or may not be the answer, but I think he's the one BP is relying on and therefore while I think BP will try to win every game possible, I think we will also be trying to prepare Henson to be the fulltime starter in 2005 and by adding an extra #1 pick for next year's drafts shows that we are putting more emphasis on '05 and beyond than just on '04.
So it's not a situation of simply blowing off the '04 as much as it is putting more emphasis towards '05 and the future.

Really good post ABQ. From where I sit it looks very much to me like a number of folks on the roster did not meet his demands and he stockpiled picks because he expects turnover.
CB is obviously a hot spot. The competition there will be fierce.
Everyone was saying Henson would need seriosu line help if we were to start him. Well, we got serious line help. It very much looks to me like they are willing to give him the team right now and let him grow.

I'm not doubting that an emphasis is being placed on 2005 only that with improvement from many of our young players I think Dallas still has a very good chance at competing on a high level this year. Again I'm not claiming Dallas to be a odds on SB contender but I do think this team will be improved over last years team just from the experiance these guys have gained.

I'd say that in 2004 they are looking to compete and looking to possibly win it in 2005. If Buffalo's pick turns out to be a blue chip then he may be the final piece of the puzzle.

IMO, he's doing both. Wiley and KJ are both help for today. Henson is a project (some disagree, but IMO he is) for the future. The 1st three picks in the draft are for today and future. I really think they believe they'll all come in and contribute. Day 2 picks look to be kinda for today (special teams maybe) with hope that they develop for the future.

Exactly.
On Henson being a project. I think they are geared to make a run at it all in 2005 and will play him this year to get him aclimated to the NFL. He gives us our best QB option long term.
I do think he (BP) addressed the team's needs for this year to make us better than last year and compete.
Next year he's got some serious ammo to put finishing touches on the team.
