Kiper "Scoop"
I was just listening to Kiper's online audio chat on ESPN.
He has us taking Kevin Jones... or possibly Chris Perry.
Also mentions Greg Jones as a possibility in addition to Julius Jones.
Also says he heard that Tatum Bell might be an option in a later round.
Clearly, I was blown away by Kiper's insight and insider information. No wonder he's such a respected expert.
It's easy to be an expert when you "predict" every possible scenario.

I have to hand it to Kiper though. That dude is everywhere during this time of year. I was in Miami earlier in the week and he jumped on their local radio show with Hammering Hank. He was on the Dan Patrick show earlier today. He did a chat on ESPN. He will be on the ESPN draft show this afternoon. He will make appearances on ESPN, ESPN news and possibly PTI (he was on the show on Wed). That guy just loves talking draft. Mel Kiper and draft go hand in hand. You gotta appreciate how he has created a god like status just on the NFL draft. I don't always agree with him and sometimes he gets on my nerve, but you have to respect him.

I agree. I listen to most of his chats and enjoy them. It just struck me, listening to this particular chat the day before the draft, how little of substance he had to say.
He covers his bases so much that it's useless.
After spending the past month combing the net and this board for draft scoop, it's disappointing to hear such generalities from THE draft expert.

I agree. I want to hear him say "this dude can't play and even though he will go in the first round he will not be a player in the NFL." He very rarely makes statements like that.

How else can you tell people how often you were right if you don't cover every possible scenario in your predictions. I wonder if he is also into astrology?

We MIGHT draft a RUNNING BACK?!?!?
Whoaaa!!! ~Mike Meyers doing his Joey Lawerence impression~
Now I can sleep better tonight, knowing that we might be interested in one of the 5 backs in this draft!

To be fair, what do you want from this guy in terms of predictions?
Not even the Dallas braintrust knows what they're gonna do. Sure, they have their draft board but so much is dependent on what teams ahead of them do. The possibilities are endless.
Kiper is paid to present the players themselves and does a fine job with that. His speculation, along with the rest of the world on who will go where is PURE SPECULATION.
Shoot, no one even knows who is going to be the VERY FIRST PICK at this point. Probably not even the Chargers since Manning is playing hardball.
Just gotta keep it in perspective.

Really Chris Perry wouldn't make me go postal if we selected him at #22. He's just a lot better value later in the 1st.

Actually, one thing he did say, in terms of a strong opinion that I found interesting, is that that he's a little surprised that Eli Manning is making such a power play since he isn't clearly the best person in the draft. Kiper kept saying, "he isn't a John Elway."
He said that some team's have him 4 or 5 on their board, and that there are several other players that teams have rated at number one.
Like I said, I like Mel and respect his detailed knowledge, I was just disappointed by his lack of "scoop" the day before the draft.
