OT: Nebraska Football
How odd is it to turn on the TV and watch Nebraska running a West Coast Offense instead of the triple option lol
It was just to wierd to watch when you see Nebraska run the option for like the past 20+ years lol

Even more odd is that Southern Mississippi is beating the Huskers 9-3 at halftime up in Lincoln.

I'm a long-time Nebraska fan and I absolutely hate it. The option game and power running is out of fashion right now, but that shouldn't be any reason to abandon it. In fact, it should work even better now since so few teams run it any more. The Callahan hire and that entire coaching search was just horribly botched by the NU AD.

As a long time Husker fan myself, I say give 'em a chance. It was obvious that the program was on a downward spiral with Frank Solich. The recruiting was getting worse and the play on the field wasn't better.
With Callahan, they've already started making progress. They have a verbal commitment from the top QB in Florida, Harrison Beck (Countryside HS) Clearwater, FL, which is a shocking development considering the schools he can play for if he stays here.
It's going to take a couple of years, but I truly believe the program will be back to it's usual power house status around that time.

You're right...They're obviously going to need different personnel, especially at QB, and that will take a while. I just loved the old option and that bludgeoning running style, and NU was about the only team that ran it anymore. I'll miss it.

UNL gets picked off and it gets taken back for a TD. Southern Miss goes for a 2 pt. conversion and doesn't convert.
UNL leads 17-15.

I'm not a Nebraska fan but I agree with this.
It'll take some time but Nebraska can be the class of the Big 12 North in a short period. Dailey will be ok in a few weeks but his first attempt it wasn't pretty. The offense will need to be cut down some probably. These kids dont get the practice time of pros.
The Nebraska D was pretty solid and that wasn't a bad USM team either. It'll definitely get better. The good news is No UT ot OU in the North and KSU cant hang in recruiting against even 7 win Nebraska clubs.
The TE looked very good as did Tierre Green.
But I still don't know what any team saw Thursday night that would have made them comfortable with waiting a round or two for the offensive lineman they wanted. ---Todd McShay
We just converted half our LB to DL. We have a 30m starting DL, it better be pretty friggin good.
