Ok....what does that have to do with Merriweather?
I know you'll probably bring up some BS like the FIU thing, so I'll concede that, but outside of that event how has he demonstrated poor character?

that's not BS, that's a violent outburst on the field
just like we probably won't ever be signing Albert Haynesworth, the same applies to drafting Merriweather

53 Cowboys Anthony Spencer OLB
Cowboys need a rusher to go opposite Ware as Coach Phillips tries to build a pass rush like he had in San Diego.
At Purdue's Pro Day Friday, where 18 NFL teams watched six Boilermakers work out, Spencer reached his goal, clocking in at an unverified 4.64.
Getting Anthony Spencer at 53 would be a huge gift.

Apples and Oranges.
Haynsworth was an isolated incident by one player.
Merriweather got caught up in a mele and went after an oppenent that was attacking teammate. Outside of that he's a team leader and active in helping his community.

Promising, but Spencer won't make it to our pick in Round 2.

LOL, an either or mock. I love it
You mean Aaron Rouse?
I would take either of the first 2 rounds. Nelson/Spencer would be my personal choice. Rouse is a huge risk reward guy. I'll take the "sure thing" in Nelson. I think a WR like Steve Smith might grab me more in the 3rd. I'm a little spooked on Utah NTs after last year.

Then again, we got Witten in the 3rd when he was predicted as a late 1st to early 2nd.........players drop every draft and players get taken much sooner than predicted every draft.

Spencer will be gone in the first round. My guess is the Ravens will pick him in the first round to play SOLB for Adalius Thomas.

Both happen every year. This draft will be no different. Just last year everyone thought Watkins would be a 3rd rounder and we took him in the first. So players can drop later in the draft as well.
This is a team who is battling several major injuries to
key players including Pro Bowl talents like Lee, Austin, Jenkins, Murray,
Carter and Ratliff. Other key starters missing include Costa, Smith, Church and
Coleman. That is 11 key players - that's half the starting lineup. Yet we still went 8-8.

What we do really depends on Wade's thinking about two areas: OLB and FS. Does he like what we have or does he want more? I THINK that he probably will pass on going after a high FS. And with what we have now with Carpenter and Burnett, plus Ellis I think we do not go first day there either.I think a CB makes more sense and gives us more at this time. McCauley or Houston look good- McCauley especially with his size and speed. We need to think of a backup center with promise- to me that is Kyle Young who is big enough to play guard as well. Ginn is a guy who intrigues me with his ability to return; imagine if we could get a guy that gave us what hester gave the bears this year...

I suggest you take a look at the stats of the Alabama game.

"Active in helping the community" is that the nice way of saying he returned gunfire on an assailant who had shot his roomate in the ***?
He was just "helping his community".
We don't need anymore gun toting thugs who stomp on people in brawls.

Sure we do...
We already have one that can't cover...
Might as well have one that can.

Brandon Merriweather S Miami
STRENGTHS
Talent-wise, Brandon might be the most talented DB in this draft. He has the size, strength, speed and the burst to play more than one position in the defensive backfield. He is very quick and is a good, strong tackler. He will be an excellent special teams player; in fact, he has the quickness to be a weapon on special teams. He stands up to a challenge and takes pride in his game. Brandon has top ten talent at the safety position and at the CB position -- I’m talking about in zone coverage and man-to-man coverage. He is like a sniper out on the field when he plays the Free Safety position. He will just lay back and wait for the QB to make a mistake and then, like a sniper, he pulls the trigger and goes in for the kill. Brandon Merriweather could be one of the best players in this draft.
NEEDS TO IMPROVE
I call him a sniper because -- well, everyone raise their hand that carries a gun hidden in their pants. Let’s see…one, two, three. That’s it -- just three of you out there! I just have to wonder about what other off field issues we don’t know about that pertain to Brandon or any other Miami players? I guess what is most impressive about Brandon is how he waits for a player to be on the ground (read: defenseless) before he steps on their face with his cleats. I have no doubt that Brandon will convince someone to draft him in this draft. He is what we call a “player” -- a kid that plays on people’s emotions to get them to change their minds about him and his behavior. I can just see Mike Brown and Mike Shanahan in a room interviewing this kid and believing everything they are hearing.
TALENT BOARD ROUND: 7 – Red Flag
Brandon has top ten talent, but that talent is currently married to a brain that is very self-destructive. This is a kid that most likely will be picked in the second round of this draft because some team, no matter how much they tell you that they won’t draft Brandon, will draft him! It’s just that simple! They did it with Maurice and they will do it with Brandon. How many times do I have to tell you that it takes more than talent to play at the next level? Character, intelligence, passion and then, talent are the main ingredients and in that order. If I were to put a number grade on Brandon for each of one of those categories from one to ten (ten being the top score) it would look like this: Character = 0, Intelligence = 0, Passion = 5, Talent = 10. Total = 15 points out of a possible 40 score. Do you think that is enough to draft him? I don’t! But then, that’s just me – a guy who believes that having talent isn’t everything!
