The Cowboys make a trade w/ Atlanta. Dallas trades their 1st (22nd) to Atlanta for their two 2nd rounders (39th & 44th). It's a steep price BUT Atlanta is willing to move up to the 22nd so they can take their pick of the best WR or DE (both major needs) that will still be available. Because of their FA pick-ups, the Cowboys can afford to go w/ the BPA and decide to trade out of the 1st since there are no immediate needs.
2 (39) Dwayne Jarrett, WR, Southern Cal (6-5 215) - How do you argue w/ his production? Drops to the 2nd because of "speed" issues; a STEAL at this point
2 (44) Arron Sears, OL, Tennessee (6-4 325) - LG of the future? value pick
2 (53) Brian Robison, OLB, Texas (6-3 256) - Will fit a 3-4 much better than a 4-3 and will excel accordingly
3 (87) Paul Soliai, NT, Utah (6-4 335) - Monster NT to develop behind Fergie
4 (122) Fred Bennett, CB, South Carolina (6-1 200) - Need to upgrade at CB; should replace Jones or Reeves
5 (159) Dustin Fry, OC, Clemson (6-2 325) - Found our back-up OC; can also play some OG
6 (195) Anthony Arline, CB, Baylor (6-1 200) - Need to upgrade at CB; should replace Jones or Reeves
6 (200) Jeff Rowe, QB, Nevada (6-5 220) - Has all the tools to develop w/ proper coaching
7 (212) Justin Medlock, PK, UCLA (6-0 200) - Strong leg; accurate? Let's find out
7 (234) Dane Uperesa, OT, Hawaii (6-4 310) - RAW skills, will need time to develop, McQ is NOT a given
7 (237) Le'Ron McClain, FB, Alabama (6-1 255) - good blocker, excellent receiver

Way to steep, but we can do this...
At 22 I don't see the cowboys getting a diffrence maker and the guys mentioned as possibilities can be clustered with many others so...
We give the 22-53-87 picks to the falcons for 39-44-75-109-121. Whom to get with those picks I'll leave to Ireland.

The "numbers" definitely add up BUT my entire scenario for the trade was because of Atlanta's desire to take one of the top WRs that would still be available w/ the 22nd pick. I figure they'd want a WR for Vick and would be willing to pay the price. One of the 2nd rounders they have is from their trade w/ the Texans and I consider that "found money" for them. I think they would be willing to throw that in to secure the rights to draft either Meachem, Bowe, Jarrett, or Ginn, Jr. I wouldn't do the trade you proposed if I were the Cowboys because I'd only trade down for a good offer. I'd rather stay pat and pick my BPA on my board if that was Atlanta's counter-offer. Thanks for the input though; I'll factor it in for my final mock.....

*No big changes this time, just some tweaking for now. Had to go back and get a NT higher in the draft. Moved some up my board, some down. AND, I'm taking a shot at Tarell Brown w/ my last pick. He's too talented NOT to get picked-up late in the draft, imo. I think I'm zoning in on a final mock.

I want Blalock. A 41 on the Wonderlic, admitted geek, he'll be in the NFL for at least 12 years with no off the field issues.
Season ticket holder since 2002 - I wasn't born in Texas, but I got here as fast as I can.

With our 1st (22nd overall)? I don't think he'll be there w/ our 2nd rounder...

22nd Overall???? Who do you think I am? Larry Lacewell?????? If someone from the top 10 doesn't slide down where the Cowboys can grab him, I'd like to see them trade down a few times and get into the top of round 2. Then they can draft Blalock and gain a few more picks in the process.

Gotcha. Actually, if Lacewell was running the draft and picked Blalock w/ our 22nd overall, it would have been his BEST pick ever for the 'Boys.....
