Default Baltimore Ravens Picks

Rd 1 - 029 - Ben Grubbs OG, Auburn

BIOGRAPHY: Three-year starter awarded All-Conference honors as a senior. Began his college career playing on the defensive line and at tight end.

POSITIVES: Athletic blocker who displays a lot of skill in motion. Quick off the snap, fluid pulling across the line of scrimmage and immediately gets out to the second level, removing linebackers from the action. Jolts opponents with good hand punch.

NEGATIVES: Not a dominant blocker who gets much movement at the point. Lacks top fundamentals, which hampers his ability to finish blocks.

ANALYSIS: A natural blocker on the inside who has shown consistent improvement the past three seasons, Grubbs is a perfect fit in a zone blocking scheme. Will only get better as he physically matures, which could help him eventually develop into a starter at the next level.

Rd 2 - 061 -

Baltimore trades 2nd round pick (#61) for Lions 3rd Round (#74) and 4th round (#101) picks.

Rd 3 - 074 - Yamon Figurs WR Kansas State

BIOGRAPHY: Former junior college transfer who started the past three seasons. All-Conference selection after pass catching numbers of 28/418/3 last year. Also averaged 14.7 yards on 22 punt returns, bringing two back for scores. Posted a career-best 31 receptions.

POSITIVES: Swift, elusive ball handler who affects the game as a return specialist or wide receiver. Intelligent player who knows where he is on the field. Sharp route-runner who stays low exiting breaks and gets separation from defenders.

NEGATIVES: More quick than fast, and does not play to his times. Lacks strength at the point, gets minimal results as a blocker and loses out in battles. Unnecessarily lets the pass get inside him.

ANALYSIS: A prospect who has flashed skill the past three years, Figurs is a third receiver at the next level whose real value will be as a punt returner.

Baltimore trades 4th round (#101), 5th Round (#166) and 6th round (#203) to get Jacksonvilles 3rd round pick (#86) Pick

Pick #86 - Marshal Yanda OT, Iowa

BIOGRAPHY: Two-year starter at both guard and tackle. All-Conference selection as a senior.

POSITIVES: Strong position blocker coming off a breakout campaign. Plays with good lean, stays square and turns opponents off the ball with good hand extension. Quickly picks up stunts or twists, stays with assignments and keeps his feet moving throughout the action.

NEGATIVES: Lacks footwork, struggles to adjust and displays marginal blocking range.

ANALYSIS: Displaying major improvement last season, Yanda is a college tackle likely to be used at guard in the NFL. Needs to fine-tune his game yet offers good potential.
