Default Cincinnati Bengals Picks

Rd 1 - 018 - Leon Hall CB, Michigan

BIOGRAPHY: Three-year starter awarded varying degrees of All-Conference honors since his sophomore season. Senior totals were 45/3/15 after 61/4/9 as a junior.

POSITIVES: Good-sized cornerback with outstanding ball skills. Fluid transitioning to run with opponents, stays with receivers out from breaks and quickly closes on the ball. Displays a sense of timing, reads opponents' eyes and immediately locates the pass.

NEGATIVES: Does not show top-end speed or play to his 40 time. Not a strong or sure-handed tackler.

ANALYSIS: Rarely tested by opposing quarterbacks, Hall has shut down opponents the past two years. Struggles against speedy receivers, as was the case against Ohio State this year, yet has solid natural skills and cover

Rd 2 - 049 - Kenny Irons RB, Auburn

BIOGRAPHY: South Carolina transfer who earned All-Conference honors after his junior and senior seasons. Ground totals last season were 198/893/4 with 10/78 catching the ball. Struggled with injuries throughout his senior year.

POSITIVES: Quick and elusive ball carrier with terrific football instincts. Patient, shows good vision and follows blocks anywhere on the field. Quickly cuts back against the grain, loses no momentum. when he must change direction and has a burst through the hole.

NEGATIVES: Rarely breaks tackles and does not pick up much yardage off initial contact. Marginal pass-catcher out of the backfield. Gives effort blocking, yet gets minimal results.

ANALYSIS: Coming off a sensational junior season, Irons.s development was slowed last year due to injuries. Has room for development and could eventually grow into a starter at the next level.
